Extremely hard soap

I l8ve SV soaps and always have made luxurious lather so easily. However, a puck I have bought is extremely hard and even after blooming, it is difficult to lather. I have never had so hard a soap puck! Will try either soaking for ages, or grating it. Anyone else experienced this?
 
All my SV soaps are reasonably soft. I shave the puck with a knife and press the resultant soap into a container to load from. Mine are nothing like a triple milled GFT or TOBS soap?
 
Yes, mine have been fairly soft and pliable, but not the two I've bought. They are Dolomiti and I have had this one before and it was very easy to lather.
 
Hmmm... I just got a new Dolomiti and I have hard water. I didn't have a problem. Maybe it depends on how perfect you want your lather. I'm pretty laissez-faire and I don't even bloom.
 
I've grated it, and it now seems like it should behave thanks. I seem to remember Felice variety needed a few lather to become great.
