Hi All

As Ive rabbited on about I have taken a concession in a local antiques shop, well we have been open two weeks so I thought I would update you on what I have, also a little bit of info about the shop itself. As always discounts of list prices for TSR members.

The shop has been open 2 weeks today and will have its grand opening before the month is over (more info about that when i have it).

The shop is a brilliant way for you to find shaving goodies, namely as you can take the misses in and she will enjoy the shop as much as you. being a concessions based shop there is an absolute mixture of items available, my mother has a lovely selection of Staffordshire pottery jewelery etc there is also furniture, silver, books, ephemera, Oddles of Carn Wedgwood etc. But obviously the most interesting part is the shaving part.

On the shlef at the moment I currently have:
A gillette tech traveller
A gillette tech
A knockout
A 1930's clone of a Early Gillette 3 peice (never used)
A 1970's boots shaving brush (unused)
a 1950's Cullmark shaving brush in good condition.
8 assorted wade shaving mugs
3 Travel sets
An assortment of ebony grooming items.

In preparation
14 Two piece razors from Germany, great condition never ever seen this type before a photo will appear later
14 1930s - 1950's Shaving brushes again from Germany mixed conditions and bristle types photos later
A art deco ebony clothes brush (really nice item)

Awaitng arrival:
A boxed Gold Old Type

Quite an assortment for such little space.

I am normally working in the shop Wednesday and Saturday mornings, the Shop is open 7 days a week 10am till pm.

I am more than happy to be in the shop by arrangement should any member wish to have a look around, shoot the breeze, haggle a good deal.

I will update this thread as more stuff comes along.

Tehe, yes surprise bemusement and interest have all happened normally from the same person.

I have also made some sales. Which is good

Well a little update for you all.

Tomorrow at midday is the grand opening.

Alan Minter the boxer will be doing the ceremonies and no doubt joinging us in the party.

looking forward to it, hope the guests have lots of cash on them.

tonight i shall be polishing cutlery as i have a load to go down there..

Hope all goes well tomorrow.
I was bought up on the income from my mum's antique shop in Havant (next door to Emsworth for those from elsewhere) That was in the 40s/50s, long since gone. So I have great empathy with your mum and your personal venture. Have fun.

Thanks again for the kind words guys, it makes a change from the IT industry I can tell you.

Arrowhead, I dont have any plain ones, but you can always turn it around, I have about 10 wade mugs of different shapes etc all with some motor vehicle on them, and I have a SylvaC shaving mug with a cutter ship on it complete with its original 2oz soap. They dont realise a lot of money so are a cheap item to buy, if you want to let me know more accurately what you are looking for im happy to look for one on my travels, I imagine price would be about £10

All the very best to you Millay, hope all goes swingingly. You wouldn't by any chance have a plain Wade - type mug, would you?

Thought about getting a "patterned" one and running it through the dishwasher with the cheapest DW powder you can lay hands on? Takes the pattern off most things when you don't want it to... sod's law says Wade's pictures are made of some sort of diamond-related compound of course

not having a wade mug to look at here, I beleive the transfer is under the glaze, but will have a look tomorrow as I reckon they are cheap enough to have a little experiment.

Haha! I managed to take a transfer off a mug with Evostik Cleaner 3 (much to my chagrin), but I can't see that working with a Wade mug - I know my luck too well.

I have a pretty good collection of chemicals. I will certainly have a look
