Dr. Martens

DM's for me back in my motorcycle days, not comfortable to begin with but I think being exposed to rain, cold and heat (from the engine) they became very comfortable indeed!
I killed two pairs by making a hole in the sole from the gear change pedals.
Don't think I would buy a new pair now but the connection with my youth/bike/freedom is very strong.

Swastika toed Docs? I ha e never heard of that one and doubt they ever did. I think they have a bit more politically correctness than to go that low.

Union Jack possibly

As far as I am concerned they come in Ox-Blood and Ox-Blood only
In the mid 80's, here in the states, punk rock was the big trend (not for me) and a lot of my schoolmates were into it.
A lot of punks were recruited by Tom Metzger (head of WAR - white aryan resistance) and went skin.
Then they would go to shows and fight the punks. That's where the song ‘nazi punks fuck off ‘came from.
Now, you may not believe me, but I guarantee you Henry Rollins does, because I saw him almost get kicked to death
because he was listening to the Beastie Boys at soundcheck, and then refused to play Skrewdriver during his set.
If I can ever figure out how to put pics on my iPad, I will put up a picture of my friends wearing their
‘ boots and braces ‘ , throwing up a Sieg Heil and showing off their brand new nazi Docs.
If you don't know who Tom Metzger is, him and his son were on American t.v. Geraldo Rivera, when Geraldo
got his nose broken by a flying chair. Lot of the old ‘ultra violence' back then, me droog.
It's all on YouTube. Viddy well little brother, viddy well.

I was looking for DM shoes, in cherry red, size11.5, could not get them even from the DM shop in Glasgow, anyway, tried a few pairs on and they all felt very hard and uncomfortable, I had a pair of black ones when I was a bus driver and they were great, I don't remember having to break them in...just wore them everyday with no probs.
After my failed attempts to get my size I started reading up on them, there are a lot of complaints about the time ( and damage to feet ) it took to break them in...weeks in fact, so imo something has changed. Any shoe should be able to be worn comfortably from day one, boots are a different story, I had two pairs of Dexters that were excellent. My quest for DM's finished after reading so many bad reviews...I dont want to burst your bubble but ebay are full of fake DM's, and it is a minefield on there.

Bob.

If that is the case then I stand corrected. I still can't recall them though but I do remember a US shoe manufacturer who had Swastikas on the sole print. Heaven forbid though I do hope these kind of things disappear in the annals of history as the world would do far better without blindness to all what these things stand for. I remember the days well though as I was swept in to the early punk era, and yes, I have seen the DK's perform 'Nazi Punks' quite a few times and know the song well. Big DK fan.

I guess after 15 years mine are pretty well worn in!

They also came with Old Glory ( U.S.) , the hammer and sickle, and the old south Stars and Bars.
The Oi skins ( kids of Anglo , Celtic, Welsh, Scottish, Pictish descent wore the ‘Jack'.
The kids of German, Saxon, Nordic, descent wore the swastika.
And the kids who were American white pride wore either Old Glory or the Stars and Bars.
Metzger was always trying to get me in it because i'm half Swedish ( my mom ) and half Iranian ( my dad ).
He'd tell me ‘you're the perfect Aryan'. My mate was the singer in the band, and his older brother and I
didn't like punk, we liked rock and funk/soul. And the singer's brother ( who was of Scottish descent )
like any Scotsman, probably could've kicked the shit out of everybody there by himself!
The funny thing about it is, here in the states everyone is mixed, and most people don't even know what
they even are! So we had a guy who was half polish wearing nazi Docs, a guy who had a full blooded
Native American grandmother wearing ‘white pride' Docs, an Irish catholic kid wearing the Union Jack
me, a half German, half Iranian, buying the liquor, and the guy who drove us to the show, was black!
And you Europeans wonder what the hell is wrong with us ! ‘Merica !
