Down Home Summer - my vetiver grail

My God, Sharon @SoapAlchemist. Your Down Home Summer is gobsmackingly good. I believe I have found my vetiver grail, and I've cycled through quite a few now. You have struck the perfect balance between earthy and floral, just taking the edge off the vetiver and giving the lavender just enough room to sift through without going all Provence. This comes from someone who loves the really dirty and smokey vetiver and who doesn't generally like lavender -- DHS, however, should be 'edible' for everyone!

I can only recommend you get a sample or a full 125grams, chaps. Mine is the signature version.

Sorry I missed this halvor, thanks so much for you kind comments, with which of course I can only agree. :) Vetiver can be too smokey and murky for some, and the mix I think ameliorates that somewhat.

Good question @fancontroller . It's hard enough to describe a smell, never mind come up with a name for it. For some reason when I made it, I thought of someone returning home in the Southern states of America, and the mix of smells that can take a person back - in my case turf smoke, and of course in summer there's the smell of flowers.....so, yeah. Names aren't my forté. I think the word 'down' encapsulates the vetiver - in a good way.

This I didn't want to hear, from a vetiver expert in my eyes. Order pending.

I've got a sample pot of this in the cupboard and like all the Nannys samples I ordered at the time it was very good. I'm away on holiday to Cyprus on Sunday so I'm thinking it may well be the perfect soap for taking with me or maybe Ice & Slice which I still have a little left of.

@SoapAlchemist I think you have got the vetiver/lavender balance just right on this scent, with the vetiver dominant. Like you say, still plenty of deep nutty earthiness is present, with the spike of lavender cutting through.

I would highly recommend the Arabian Nights scent to anyone else as well. I really like the Frankincense and Myrrh combination from previous scents and you have a lovely scent here.

Digging up this topic just to add that this is the soap with the most evolving scent I ever tried. I mean when you lather it up, that vetiver scent starts to give place to the floral, greenish lavender aroma, and it's just fantastic.

Really impressive performance as well, quickly became one of my favourites.

One I have not tried yet but Sharon's straight Lavender Signature is gorgeous as is the Moroccan Sands. I'm going to order some samples I think.
