How many of you use both a double-edged razor and a straight razor? Not necessarily simultaneously, but perhaps one week on and one off, something like that. I ask because I'd like to hear from those of you who use both to obtain some knowledge on each in terms of the other.

I use 3 straights and 3 de's in my rotation a wapi 1/4 hollow ,w h gates and a
Joseph rodgers both almost wedges.
Gillette super adgustable, 58 fatboy and a 1940's pomoco slant.
They all get used as I fancy. I'm only just starting with the straights a couple of months
As for de's I started shaving at 17. I'm now 39 and nearly always used a de. I hade a
Spell when the kids were toddlers that I went over to mc3 and the like but once
They were at an age where they understood that they wernt toys then I went back
To de's
I find I look forward to a shave if its with the straight but its a chore with the razor
Don't know why possibly cause it needs a little respect and attention.
If ya wanna know anything Neil would answer most questions, he will claim to be no
No all but he's dam close, also you could read his posts in the straight section

Hope this helps

I mainly use DE, but love a luxurious straight shave, particularly on a Sunday when I can take my time. You might want to try night shaving. Some people find they can relax and master technique on an evening when they'r not racing the clock.

Mainly a DE for me - but I'm learning to straight shave using a shavette. I've got a few straights that will make restoration projects shortly, so I'd like to be ready for when I get round to it!

DE's for me, never tried a straight but have noticed how many here "graduate up" to one or intend to.

I'll stay at the shallow end of the pool with my Gillette Museum.

I bought a shavette for the above reasons. It is not as cool in my eyes (ie i feel like i am cheating myself) but it's half way there. I have had one full shave with it, no cuts but lots of burn, BUT not as bad as the shave I had at Trumpers, and people call me a butcher.
I am going to have another go whis weekend. The problem is all my morning shaves are too rushed to even think about the straight. I do however use it often to touch up and get my sids perfect.
