Do British Aristocrats shave any better than Rocket HD / AJ

I have been watching the British Aristocrats sell for crazy money both on here and on fleabay and was just wondering if it is worth paying up for them. I can see that they are stunning razors and presumably wear very well with the rhodium plating. However, I do already have a Rocket HD and an Aristocrat Junior (both of which shave very well). Apart from aesthetics do those British Aristocrats actually shave any better????

I can't answer that but would be intrigued to know.

I have bid (unsuccessfully) on some of those Aristocrats you've seen on ebay. I've put in higher bids than I thought were sensible but have always been outbid by someone with either:

1. A larger cheque book

or

2. No wife

;)
 
Personally I can't imagine they shave any better than a HD Rocket or a A.Jr

Rh-plated bling and pigskin cases don't change the physical mechanics of weight, blade gap, angle etc.

I'd rather have a wife and kids than £££ gentleman's toys.
 
I have a Rocket HD and a Gold #66 (Aristocrat De Luxe).

My Rocket is a nicer shaver.

The heads are identical so it must be in the weight and width of the handles of the razors.

The Aristocrat is 2g heavier and about 1/8" thicker but the Rocket seems to feel weightier and more robust.

I would never pay the full asking price for an Aristocrat, but was fortunate enough to find one at a price I couldn't turn down.
 
This is music to my ears gents! Frankly, I think some of the prices being asked on B&B are just silly. Thankfully, not many people are falling for them.

PS I have been shaving with my HD for the last few weeks and just this week switched to my fat handled tech with a feather blade and am loving it! There is something to be said for the simplicity of the 3-piece razors over the TTOs
 
I used to own an aluminium handled aristo #22 that was quite rare. It was too light for me but I didn't feel the shave's were any better or worse than an AJ or HD but it sure was pretty, I understand why they fetch high prices.
