did anyone else watch this

Well the box arrived this morning and I have spent half the day getting the stuff clean.

In the box came 12 razors all exactly the same all with no signs of use. I thouroughly cleaned them and sterilized the lot and had to take one out for a spin. Loaded with an IP I was amazed this was one of my best shaves ether the audio feedback was astonishing and the closeness of the shave is something else. Im honestly not making this up i really really got a good shave.

Below is a picture of them, does anyone know about them im guessing 1960s/70s

These will be going in the shop for sale and of course you gents have first refusal, as yet i am not sure what they are worth.

I know you all want to see the brushes but they take a lot longer to clean sterilize etc.. so that will be for tomorrow.

They look a little like the WS classic (the £4 job at Boots) in the operation of the head, which makes me think Treet of India...

You would be correct in your thinking as that is exactly what i thought, but that is where the similarity ends, The thread size and length is completely different, and the way the blade is held in place is completely different so is the way the blade is angled etc once fitted.

Are they German? Govt issue?

Any markings or numbers?

And where's the brushes??

:)

I dont know they have no markings at all, not a zip, the plastic seems a tad to modern to allow the m to pre-date 1950's, there is a slection of razor blades including wilkinsons, and they look 50's - 60's so im guessing they are aroundthe same age.

I know i know :) The brushes are currently undergoing a last ultrasonic bath post a good long dip in barbicide. They will be ready tomorrow morning, there will also be some junkers that might interest someone who is into putting new knots into handles.

Be careful if you are using the Ultrasonic on those brushes, you might end up shaking the knot loose or causing some damage to the surface coatings, varnish etc.

Hi antdad

Yea you are of course correct, I have built a special rack for the purpose of immersing just the knots in the ultrasonic cleaner for more delicate handles.. namely wood.. finsihed wood does not survive to well in an ultrasonic cleaner. Then for the rest if the not falls out or some other damage occurs im pleased it happened in my cleaner not whilst someone is trying to lather there face.

Im off to the workshop to have a look at them now and will take some pics. If you want an idea of what some of them look like shavemac have a retro line for silly money. I have the real retro items to show :)

Hurrah Hurrah..

OK im overreacting a bit but here is the pictures of the brushes. open to offers

Any clues to manufacturer's, makes or models?
Is that green one (top left real onyx)?

Need a bit of detail, description, materials, loft, knot diameter, finish, condition etc then post in the BST for officialdom.

Why dont you have a go at restoring yourself?
It's not that difficult with a little care and a cordless drill plus I think they are the more interesting handles.

Great stuff Millay!

Love 'em.

My wife think I'm nuts but when you think what I *could* be looking at on the internet I think shaving brushes are pretty harmless. But mostly just pretty.

Thanks for posting.

God bless

I will do all this antdad, I really should there are two or three absolute stunners in this collection. Including an itallian Kappa. im wondering if this is the same as the chav brand of clothing.

I also need to take better photos.

I would love to put new knots in, but I cant find anywhere to purchase them in the UK, and being kinda environmentally minded, i refuse to go to golden nib and by English knots. It seems crazy. I do have all the tools.

I unfortunatly have been shown stuff on the net that once the eye sees you cannot unsee.. brushes are a much nicer thing to look at.
