Czech In The Mail

Bogeyman,
That's very possible and in my case I have only been “proper” shaving for about 9 months after a lifetime of cartridges. I think my prep is fine with good soaps and lots of lather.
I have used a number of blades - Astra SPs are nice and smooth, GSBs feeling sharper, as well as maybe 6 others over last months.
Previously I was thinking that the whole good blade / bad blade thing was a bit overdone, but the Tatra just felt rough. Which is a learning in itself for me at least!
I will use the blade again and see if I can make it work.
As they say YMMV
Cheers
Paul

I've just received 50 of each, and tomorrow will be an outing with a Tatra in my Rex razor. I hope I fare better with it than others have done.

As usual, first-class service from Gemstone, and these things are very well-priced.

I wish these hadn't caught my eye, as, although I'm well-stocked with blades against all eventualities, storage is now becoming a problem.

Two passes with my Rex on 3.5, and Nanny's Vetyver, and I'm a bit disappointed with this blade. It's sharp and shaves well, but leaves a smarting face. It may be that the razor is set too high, so I'll try it dialled down and see what happens. I'm hoping that it's a blade which will perform more comfortably in a "milder" razor, such as a Hone or a vintage Gillette of some kind.

I've used a few Tiger Plats and had a few very mixed experiences with them.

When used in my most used razors, Ball End/Fat Handle Tech I found the blades to be prickly and not very enjoyable to use.

However in the Yaqi Cobbed Head (same head as the Maggards V3A) which is a much more aggressive head than the Techs the blade is a delight to use and I've got some very smooth and comfortable shaves.

Second shave with Tatra today. Set out to tame it so lots of signature soap, well lathered up, and put the blade in my lovely mild Timeless 68 scalloped.
Better - and a close shave, but still not a smooth experience.
Ferrum above describes it perfectly when he says it leaves the face “smarting”.
Will keep trying

I dialled down my Rex razor to about 2, and persevered with the Tatra blade. After 3 days of it, I can't say that it improved the experience in any way. It certainly gets the whiskers off well enough, but always felt as rough as the proverbial bear's a**e. It reminds me in some ways of the Croma Diamant blades, with which I could not get on.

When I took the blade out this morning, I gave the edge a tentative feel, and it seemed a lot blunter than many other 3-day-used makes.

I suppose it could be something to do with the Rex, but that razor has hitherto behaved impeccably with every variety of blade I've used in it, and at any setting.

Next up will be a Tiger blade, but I'm torn between a Standard and another adjustable, a Black Beauty.

I tried the Tiger in the ATT with the H Plate this morning and again was pleased with the performance , maybe not as smooth as some but certainly still a pleasant shave, in fairness to the Tiger this Razor is a bit finicky about blades anyway and all but a few feel a bit scratchy in it.

I really like the Tiger in the Karve and Rocca.

Today, a Tiger blade in a Seygus V2 Zeppelin (0.5/0.7), with the dwindling supply of OSP Bay Rum.

The Seygus is a much "milder" razor, but the Tiger blade performed very well. It's smooth and sharp, and very different to the Tatra. It'll be interesting to see how one does in a more "aggressive" razor, such as Timeless .95.
