Creightons . . . ?

Hi All

I bought some Real Shaving ("RS") Co. products from T K Maxx ("because I'm worthless") but one of them gives Creightons as the manufacturer behind RS.

They seem to make lots of differently branded cream, asb, etc. which then gets "badged" as being by/from other "names".

Are RS products rated by anyone here (I got the "Soothing Balm" and, ahem, "Daily Anti-Wrinkle Cream") and who / what are Creightons? Good, bad or ugly? The do seem to be invisible hand behind lots of well-known names' products. Any info? What's the deal?

This was something I was curious about, did a bit of digging. It would appear Creightons are responsible for the cream for the major English companies, including the holy trinity of the 3 T's. Looks like they add their own pongs put it in a fancy container and charge the earth. Creightons also make the cream that Asda sell, can't recall the name. Same old story, put it in a nice box & charge double.

Regards

Perhaps I dreamed it but I thought there was a post where some guy started talking about spying on women from behind a tree?! I think I may have done one two many passes with Mama Bear's Magic Mushroom glycerine soap...

Do you have a UK dealer - sorry - supplier of this soap - and can it be melted?

You'll have to PM me for details of the dealer. Even this site has its boundaries. Melts down nicely. When I'm not shaving with it I inject it. Tends to build up soapy deposits in the veins though. I cough bubbles.

Edit: Self policing - bad taste joke deleted.

Creightons are now owned by a company called Potter & Moore, who are a contract manufacturer in the cosmetics business. There are a number of these contract manufacturers, very few of the big name producers actually make anything themselves. Potter & Moore/Creightons manufacture cosmetics for supermarkets as well as The body Shop, M&S, RS, St James & Trumpers amongst many others. However they are not the same products with different labels; each producer will specify the raw materials and the products will be produced on an individual campaign basis.

The good thing about Potter & Moore is they have a staff shop which is open to the public (10-2, I think) and if you get lucky you can pick some Trumpers or St James at knock down prices. The problem is you never know what stock is going to be in the shop. For most of last year they didn't have any shave creams but this year they have had a few.

I wouldn't suggest it is worth making a special trip to Potter and Moore's shop but if you live near to Peterborough or are passing on the A1, it may be worth half an hour of your time.

If you want the details of where Potter and Moore, let me know.

Cheers, Rousey

Despite Creightons making creams for many companies, dont forget at one point the companies ie Trumpers, Taylors would all have made them in house. So essentially creightons make them under contract to their recipe, hence why Taylors and Trumpers are different.

So each brand will still be different despite being made at the same plant.

I mixed to creams made by Creightons yesterday.TBS and Natural Grooming.I like the scent of TBS but the NG is kind of too woody for me.Now that are mixed smells great(a fresh woody clean scent) and the lather that it makes it simply superb.Creightons really makes good stuff.

Sorry Guys been away for a few days; yep that is the address by Hunnymonster.

As Nipinn says the formulas are different and the contract manufacturers would have to buy the raw materials as specified by the oroginal manufactuerer.

Cheers, Rousey
