Craft ale

I make my own from the original grains and hops.
I do love a good pint in a pub as well.

I have made a lot of 2 can kits. I think my fave was an American beers IPA kit that was a dead ringer for goose island IPA or punk IPA, both very hoppy, quite strong but very drinkable. as a few staggery mornings proved.

That's how I started out, with the tins of malt. I did a bit of man maths, and spent £1200 on equipment to brew a little cheaper from the grains instead.

I had looked into that, but do you not have to simmer the grains for a few hours at a set temperature. then cool quickly. I like the cans for the ease and speed

Pretty much, yeah.
It's about 6 hours from start to finish in getting the beer in to the fermenter.
After the coopers kits, I started with a £120 40l tea urn, and got good results, but I could make the beer 4 times in a row, and it always tasted slightly different. These days, I'm all computer controlled, so I can reproduce the result perfectly.

Tempting. but 6 or 7 hundred pounds will get me a pile of kits. and i can make a brew in less than an hour. although i will keep them in mind

The beer you can make is a different league. But I do agree, 700 or in my case 1200 is a hell of a lot of kits, never mind craft beer in pubs and from shops.
