I have a pack or two of the "new style" ones. I haven't tried Feathers before, but they seem fine to me, and give a good close, comfortable shave in both a regular (Edwin Jagger) DE89 and a shavette. If they are fakes, then they (at least the ones I have) don't seem to be cheap rubbish.
I didn't really believe it at one time, but it is true: blade preference and suitability varies tremendously from gent to gent: I like Sharks and Astras (as well as these Feathers), but don't get on at all with Wilkinson Sword (for instance), where for others, precisely the reverse is true. I can only say that anyone who is new to DE shaving should invest in a sampler pack and experiment about what suits you. When I returned to DE shaving after a twenty-odd year gap, that's exactly what I did, and it paid dividends.
