Executive (Clone of Creed Aventus)

Paul asked if I would pop in a quick review as I tried this one , I am a beginner with fragrances so thought I would buy the sample pack and this is the first one I tried, but I will do my best to describe it. I have never tried Creed Aventus so can't compare but I really like the Executive to me it seems to develop when you first put in on you get an initial kind of sweet fruity smell, but after a while it settles to a beautiful and fairly subtle Oaky and Vanilla spell. Ha I told you I wasn't very good at this! personally I really like the smell and it is definitely a quality scent with no hint of cheapness, even 10 hours after putting it on I can still smell it.

Not a thing wrong with that review, Russell. It catches the essence perfectly. Many thanks.

Let's see how it goes, I still have a set minus a bit of Executive, I will try the others and move them along.

So Today I tried the Intense Oud

As I said on my last review I am not massively experienced with fragrance, this one I have enjoyed all day when I first put it on it was very powerful, hard to describe really a kind of woody and spicy fragrance and very strong, in fact use very carefully as it was very powerful. However after a why it settled to a more kind of spicy/citrus smell with the wood more in the background , extremely pleasant I was out early this morning but this one is still very pleasant even 12 Hours Later.

Again I have tried the original so can't comment on how close it is, but again this seems a very high quality fragrance.

I tried the TV yesterday.

Intense Vanilla initially mellowing to a very nice tobacco, reminding me of the old days. I found the sweetness of the vanilla was a it too overpowering for my taste, but I can see why a lot of people like it.

The scent lasted a lot longer than I expected, which is good.

Would I buy? Possibly, although I would probably include it in a list of birthday hints.

Executive.

Very strong citrus that dies off after a few minutes, leaving a woody scent I seemed to recognise. For those of us old enough to remember sweet cigarettes, that was what I was reminded of.

A nice undertone of citrus, possibly lime.

I might buy it.

Copy Cat TV (Based on Tobacco Vanille)

As I said before I am still learning with fragrences so my review comes from a point of limited experience. I have never tried the original but I really like this fragrance, to start with it has an almost spicy scent , but this soon goes and you are left with a kind of sweet toffee, (I guess the Tobacco mixed with Vanilla) It is very pleasant and lasts , I can still smell it the morning after I used it.

Well, my GI arrived and it's good. I haven't tried Green Irish Tweed before so haven't got that comparison. Smells nice though.

I didnt get to try my 100ml Executive (Aventus) on, as it had been smashed in transit. Either during its time in the van or as it was dropped through the door. Nowhere near enough packaging for two glass bottles top be dropped through a letterbox.

So little disappointed in that. Emailed tonight to explain the situation and hopefully it gets rectified... will update as and when.20190515_170911-1512x2016.jpg

I received the bag of goodies a week ago and have taken some time to sit down with each sample.

I have tried the TV, Executive, Oud Intense and SMW. I’ve yet to wear the Oud Wood but I’ve taken a few deep sniffs with it.

Okay, I would like to start by saying that I am in no way an expert on scents. I’ve enjoyed lots of various EdTs over the years but until recently have never taken the time to explore different scents or actually learn the differences between aftershaves, EdTs and EdPs.

So I’ll start. The scent that I simply adore is Acqua de Parma Oud. I only discovered AdP having seen their scents mentioned in lots of SOTD. One day I was at an airport and tripped over the AdP stand. Having sniffs at their various offerings I fell in love with Oud. So much so that I was literally pounced on by shop staff as I continually sprayed the sample bottle, dousing myself. I then realised why when I saw the price.

Now I’m no skinflint, and as much as I adore this scent, I simply cannot afford or justify spending this amount.

However.....CopyCat Oud Intense is an almost exact match. I was out yesterday and was at various AdP displays in Glasgow. Each salesperson gave me the hard sell, but with CC Oud Intense there is simply no reason to buy the real thing at what is simply ludicrously marked up prices. The CC fragrance is as near enough identical to my nose. It lasts at least 10 hours too. Perfect. SWMBO isn’t a fan of it but I will be getting some for when I’m out without her.

Executive. This is Creed Aventus. Simple. If you want Creed Aventus save yourself money and buy CC Executive. I had this on yesterday and when I walked into House of Frasers, straight into the Creed display, the salesperson said that I was wearing Aventus. Nope CC Executive. It’s that close you will not be able to tell the difference. It matches my Stirling Executive Man products perfectly.

TV - Tabacco Vanille. A really pleasant scent. An subtle evening scent that oozes class.

SMW - Creed Silver Mountain Water. Another near perfect match. Having sampled the genuine scent yesterday and doing a side by side comparison with the tester card from yesterday and the CC sample I have, it is another spot on match.

That’s the 4 I have tried and tested. As mentioned previously, these are as near perfect matches as your likely to get. The scents certainly need at least 15 minutes drying time to fully appreciate what they give, but by Christ they are good.

A little definitely goes a long way with these products and I’d recommend only a few sprays. Any more and you will be the talk of the ball - likely for the right reasons! The scents do get attention in confined places such as offices and trains. You will be beaming with any of these scents knowing that you smell bloody good!

I’ve ordered Executive today as SWMBO loves it. I WILL be getting the Oud Intense very soon, probably next month, as that’s my favourite. I just can’t splash the cash I want to right now - even with the hefty discounts that are available from CopyCat.

Apologies if this review is a bit all over the place, I just wanted to get my initial thoughts written down.

I bought the the Best Seller Mixed Sample Bundle to take on holiday recently so we had a choice of fragrances and no big bottles in the cases - all of the scents (we got Aventus (male & female), Coco Mademoiselle, Baccarat Rouge 540 (unisex scent), Oud Wood & Oud Intense were spot on and I'd happily buy any of the scents again.

I used the Oud and Wood today and sadly it lets the other samples down quite considerably. The scent seemed really weak straight from the first spray onto my wrists and it left me with an oily residue. This disappeared after about 15 minutes but I wouldn’t like to spray it on any clothing or put a fresh white shirt on whilst it was still present.

Unfortunately the weak scent disappeared as quickly as the oily feeling. Okay, maybe it lasted a bit longer, an hour or 2 at the most, but quite disappointing.

I was at a Tom Ford display yesterday and had a brief whiff of their Oud Wood, but I was at sensory overload at that point with all the AdPs and Creeds I had been trying. The original TF Oud Wood certainly didn’t make a lasting impression on me, unlike Creed Aventus and AdP Oud, so it may just not be a scent that appeals to me. Sadly, this isn’t a scent I’ll be pursuing.

So overall, a very positive outcome from the samples.

My ratings are

1st - Oud Intense - will be buying.

2nd - Executive - I have bought.

3rd - TV - it’s growing on me. A chilled out evening scent which I’ll probably suggest to the kids for a future present

4th - SMW - I’d consider. If it was given to me as a present I’d be happy (if that makes sense).

5th - Oud & Wood - I will not buy as I don’t like it.

These are solely my opinions on the scents that are part of this sample selection. I will be honest and say that due to the costs, I would have never bought the originals as (in my opinion) it simply isn’t worth it, but very much YMMV.

These copies are pretty much the same scents, minus the packaging and cost. I’d recommend you save yourself a considerable amount money and consider these CopyCats. No one will know the difference unless you tell them!

Now....who’s next on the list for the samples.....?
