Cold water shaving?

...I've been flipping my blade for every third shave for each rotation for nearly two years, believe me, it does makes a huge difference and the blade does last longer. YMMV depending on your stubble, shaving technique and your lather slickness. It does makes a huge difference, you just need to open your own eyes to see the differences.

Would you flip an axe blade? A knife blade? No, because the beveled edge meets the same resistance on both sides just as a steak knife cutting a piece of meat. Any perceived benefit is all in your mind with not one shred of scientific data to back it up. Your "perceptions" do not trump science. Stick to the Harry Potter world of "science", Lord Voldemort . ;)

These are used by the factory for quality control, the blades are sharpened by four grinders and the numbers identify which one's not doing its job if there's a problem.

That makes perfect sense - finally I know what those numbers are for - THANK YOU.

Reverting to the original topic, I've tried cold water shaving a couple of times and while I really, really want it to work for me, it just doesn't. The blade tugs, and the result is increased irritation and usually a nick or two. Maybe I just need a sharper blade for cold shaves?

No. Just do if after a regular shower.
