Choosing and Using a Straight Razor - pt 2, Strops

Again another comprehensive guide Neil. I think I pestered most of that out of you over e-mail but it is much better to read a second time all in one place.

Superb job thanks, I will refer back to this page in future.

Thank you that is a fantastic read, very well written and informative.
I would like to share my experience with learning how to strop, my first strop was a French paddle strop,it was very thin and the cut marks on the smooth side of it shows how bad a newbie to stroping can be:blush: so I perched a wider paddle strop, wider than the blade, this worked out much better for me, but in the summer heat the glue melted holding the lether to the wood  so I took the plunge and got a hanging strop (A super lether from the invisable edge) and have never looked back. Had I read your post befour hand, I could have saved a lot of time and money thank you :)

Thanks for this, it is very informative.
Looking around there seem to be a wide variety of prices for strops. This is understandable but I was wondering what level to invest in. For instance is a £12.99 "professional" leather strop from ebay too good to be true?

Just bought my first straight from BST so this was required reading for me. The knowledge to be found on this forum is outstanding. Thank you.
