Chinese Razor Month

I loved reading this thread. And of course have ended up buying two razors, another soap, and another brush. It will be a lot of fun comparing my results with everyone else's. Boycie should be on commission from the Chinese department of exports.
In the years ahead I believe we'll see some of these Chinese brands go from being cheap novelties to matching and exceeding the incumbent brands for quality and innovation. There will, I believe, always be a place for artisans and traditional brands, but the Chinese will increase their quality and remain inexpensive. Be interesting to see how that plays out. Not just in razors, obviously.
Glad to hear you've enjoyed it and been suitably enabled.

I agree with your statement about Chinese razors. They're already producing some excellent quality stainless razors for some of our well known artisans. I still like knowing the effort am individual has put in to my razor though and will always have a soft spot for those razors.

Razor: Ming Shi 2000S
Blade: Gillette Winner (1)
Brush: RR 400 Silver LE
Soap: Signature Soaps Eboracum
Pre: Proraso Green
ASL: Proraso Green
ASB: Proraso Green

Two weighty bits of metal here in the form of the RazoRock 400 and the Ming Shi. I've only used the Ming Shi once before in my early days of this shaving style. I recall it being a bit assertive so I started with it on #2. As my skills have obviously improved, I found this a little lacking so increased the setting to #2.5 for the remaining two passes. A DFS finish was the result and it's a decent razor - especially since it can be had for £7.50 delivered from AliExpress at the minute.

The RR 400 performed brilliantly with the Eboracum and seems to be a very good brush. Signature Soaps always deliver so I opened with this to set the bar for the remaining soaps/creams. The Eboracum has a nice cooling effect - it won't be enough for 'Menth Heads' but it's very pleasant among the other ingredients within. I find the Signature Soaps unique in the scents they offer and I'm convinced I could identify one blindfolded in a line up. I'm no olfactory database but there's just something nice and natural about them.

hey boycie83 that brush looks siccck

This is it. It's a special edition though so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for when (or if it ever) comes back in stock:

I can honestly say that brushes aren't really my 'thing' maybe later they maybe be but that is one good looking brush, I like it

Razor: Lemonwald 'Feather Clone'
Blade: Gillette Platinum (1)
Brush: Yaqi Silvertip Beehive
Soap: ESC Citrus Kiss

This razor is a zamak head and stainless steel handle. Delivered from China for the princely sum of £4.19 incl. VAT. The plating on the head is a gunmetal colour and appears to be good quality. It clamps the blade well and aligned correctly first time. It appears to be an AS-D2 clone when looking at it.

That is where the similarity ends though. This razor has much more blade feel. Can't complain for £4 and it does the job. I'll end up PIFfing this at some point though. The handle is great. Really deep knurling - loads of grip. No worries about it sliding from my fingers.
