Cartridges vs Safety razor

Many people favor the good old fashioned safety razor over any modern cartridge. I have been using a safety razor for around a year now as I used to use Cartridge razors with foam and got terrible results.
My question now is now that I use a much higher quality shave cream and from using a safety razor I am paying more attention to my beard map and taking more care I should in theory get a better shave with a cartridge with hardly any irritation, of course its worth a try but will it be worth the switch? as there is still a market for them and I do absoloutley love the look of the Bolin Webb X1 in blue and would like to purchase one.

Just buy and try would be my advice Bailster, for what it's worth. With my skin regular use of any razor with more than two blades results in horrendous ( as in requiring medical attention ) skin burn, razor rash and consequent minor skin infections. So, for me, carts are not an option to which I would return. I have no doubt, however, that the combination of good soap and shaving practises will have made a vast improvement in the results you may get from a cart now.

That was my original thought, I only really used to get ingrown hairs on my neck and razor bumps however through using a safety razor I was in fact going ATG which can not be done on my neck.

I have had to use carts a few times since going over to wet shaving, was a horrible experience. Rough with lots of irritation, who'd have thought it.

I get bad shaves when i'm using bad prep, bad technique, and rubbish hardware far more than it just being a type of hardware. For example last 3 bad shaves have been with DE's and SE's and since I locked my Carts down to only using gilette or dorco i've not had a single issue.

Here is my 2cents.

I used to have terrible shaves with carts....so i move to a DE razor.
After learning about technique and different products to use, i can get an amazing shave with anything now.
Beard mapping is the key to better shaves. Carts are not bad at all and i still use mine from time to time and never get irritation.

Use whatever works for you.

Shaved with the cheapest fusion today, didn't change anything in my routine apart from substituted my soap for TOBS cream and it was a superb shave I took my time paid attention to my beard map and got superb results no signs of ingrown hairs or razor bumps and face doenst feel as dry as what it usually does, I must admit after 1 year and half of using a safety razor it is a very strange feeling using a cart again. I may be a convert!!

Using a Gillette Guard at work these days and I get great shaves using my synthetic brush and Arko stick.

Not better than a Tech but definitely not poorer either.

Will never ever return to Mach3 or Fusion for price alone coupled with the fact that they don't deliver anything my Rockwell doesn't either, not even speed or convenience.

Ive been using my mach3 for the past 3 days and have no issues. Good prep and beard mapping is the key to getting a great shave with anything.
However, just placed an order or a colonial general [emoji851][emoji16][emoji847]

That'll be you offski then,....Don't slam the door on your way out!

After several years of using a DE I went back to using a cartridge, Mach3 and Sensor. I find I get better and more satisfying shaves from these two cartridges than I did with my DE's. I must say, however, that I did develop and refine my technique when using a DE and that this was readily transferable to my cartridges. At this juncture I can't see going back to using a DE.
