Cartridges vs Safety razor

Besides my DE and SE razors I sometime still use my Gillette Contour with croma classic two bladed cartridges. Easy irritation free shaves also ATG when I am in a hurry in the moring. There is nothing bad about using a cartridge razor system if it is good for you and your skin. When there is really no time to make my own lather I still use shaving foam like Palmolive Classic and Noxzema. I also want to buy some other shaving foam brands like Floid, Proraso Green and Red, Speik and Pinaud. Why not? ;)

How many of us who use carts in our rotas actually shave like we used to in a rush with no prep or taking our time. What i'm trying to point out is that when I started with carts it was easy to be slap dash and over push, drag the shave with not even washing my face before and using poor quality shave foam in a can. I'd then wonder why i'd had such a bad shave and razor burn. Fast forward when I first started wetshaving proper, I had to take my time and prep and use technique, cos i'd risk cutting my face o ribbons lol. So that patience and prep i've added along with the learning on beard mapping and what software works for me that carts are now as good for me as any DE or SE. If you shave with a DE the same way you used to shave with a cart see if you don't mess up your face lol

You've summed it up eloquently and beautifully. I use the same technique I developed to shave with a DE and SE to shave with a cart., so that my shaves with a Mach 3 and Sensor are now more satisfying than with either a DE or SE. I love the wet shaving "ritual", but I don't believe that it is necessary to use a DE or SE to be a confirmed "wet shaver".

Wet shaving means exactly that, wet, it doesn't mean traditional.

I don't see the appeal in revisiting cartridges myself, largely because shaving with a DE doesn't take me any longer than a cart did, but if you like them go for it.
What's your definition of traditional?
