Blackland Vector SE

Ordered a Blackland Vector SE from the USA last week so should hopefully get it in the next few days.
I shave both my face and head, and I'll be using this razor on both areas.
The Vector uses Artist Club blades which are not supplied with the razor, so I've ordered some Feather pro's + Feather proGuard and Kai Captain Titan mild, I've also placed an order for Mongoose sampler from tryablade.
I've never used an SE razor before but have been using a DE for over 7 years, so if I don't feel confident shaving my head using the Feather pro blades, I should be ok face shaving.
P.S. I decided to use a Vector as my avatar.

Nice choice

Just to let you know I recently bought a General V2 from the USA and it took four days to the UK and then nearly three weeks to arrive my place after clearing customs etc.

Depending on what they declare the value to be I paid around £38 in import fees. No regrets though as one super piece of kit.

Great things are worth the wait

Yeah apparently it left HEATHROW on the 26th but I've not heard anything else from the tracking. With it coming from the USA I expected there'd be import fees to pay, but it's something that has to be done. Seeing videos and reading reviews about the Vector I'm sure this unwanted extra payment will be worth it.

Great choice the Vector is an amazing razor. I got one a few months ago from Maggard's and it's pretty much the only razor I use now.

Proline blades are excellent but you'll likely have to order them from a Japanese seller on ebay or rakuten. Connaught Shaving did stock them but they're no longer listed on their site.

Notice you have never used an SE before so I'd recommend you start with the Kai Captain first as the Feather blades can be a bit daunting. The Feathers are great blades just best start at the mild end of the scale while you adapt.

I tend to find a new SE blade fresh out the pack can be a bit over sharp and usually expect a weaper or two. I'm quite happy to let the razor clog up a bit with a new blade. After this no problem. The Kai blades just go on forever while the Feathers start to lose the edge after some five shaves or so.

Once in you'll probably never use a DE again. I rarely do.

Just hope it arrives quickly

Thanks for the advice

Because I ordered a Vector to also shave my head, it wasn't my first choice, that goes to the Paradigm Ti SE which from what I read is safer to use, unfortunately that razor is no longer being made, however Andrew might be doing another Ti SE at sometime in the future with a smaller head.

Should get delivery of my vector order this Friday, had to pay almost £54 import fees first though, which is somewhat annoying, but at least I can now look forward to receiving that Blackland, (that's) assuming nothing happens while it's being delivered.
Also received my order for the Feather pro and Feather proguard ac blades yesterday, but haven't received my order for the Kai Captain Titan mild blades yet, but I should be ok shaving both my head and face with the proguard.

The Vector I ordered was delivered earlier today along with a mongoose sampler I ordered from tryablade.
Of the 8 blades I decided to try the Feather Soft-Guard, this was mainly because as well as my face I was also shaving my head.
When shaving my face I usually do 2 passes, first with the grain then against, and using the Soft-Guard there was quite a bit of tugging, against the grain there was still some tugging but not as much, however the result was a close shave with no cuts weeper or anything.
Onto my head, shaving that area I only do 1 pass which is against the grain, and this time there was hardly any tugging with again no cut or weepers.
I found the Vector very easy to maneuvre and after that initial shave with the grain where there was quite a bit of tugging, the rest was much more comfortable, so with a sharper blade I believe it can only get more enjoyable.

Unfortunately I can't source the Schick at the moment. Schick Japan won't sell internationally & most Japanese suppliers don't ship internationally either. I think ebay is the main source for the moment. Rakuten do have a new system to replace their Global Market, not tried that myself as I have stock for personal use.
