Best time of day?

It is often said that the best time to shave is in the morning, because that's when the face is most relaxed. But... is that a real observation by all you wet shavers out there? Do you prefer shaving in the morning? Is a morning shave essential because of your work? Would you prefer to shave in the evening when you can take a more relaxed approach to it?

Me? (I hear you all ask)... I like a late afternoon/early evening shave and shower. Under lockdown, I've found myself 'dressing down' much sooner...almost ready for bed by 6pm ...I reckon that relaxation is the most important thing, but then again, I'm retired, so I don't have the work issue stuff to cope with.

I'm interested in your views...and maybe some of those secret little tips that make your shave that much better for either a kick-start to your day or a totally relaxing end to the day.

for me if its a proper DE shave (as opposed to a cart shower shave) then it's anytime that i have the time to take my time and to allow 30mins.

Havnt noticed any skin difference between morning and night really.

Weekdays I shave in the evening after bathing/showering, purely because that's when I have the time for it (not that it takes long, but there are other things that need attending to). Besides, I don't want to go to work smelling like a tart's boudoir.
Weekends, I sometimes shave in the morning.

I've shaved first thing in the morning all my life. When I was working, before I retired, I had no option : being clean shaven was de rigueur along with a dark suit, silk tie and shiny black shoes with leather soles. Even at university I'd shave when I got up before going to lectures, etc. Now that I'm retired I still start my day with a shower, shave and sh*t. I find a morning shave invigorates me and sets me up for the day. Perhaps I'm just a creature of habit, but I‘m not about to change it.

I would use to shave for work and meetings the evening before, if I am going out I shave that evening. If I shave during the weekend I shave anytime. Now I am working from home I have shaved and showered during my lunchtime, especially as I have a bad habit of getting up 10 minutes before starting work and only cleaning my teeth and making coffee.

My work has always been split between Office / Home / On the road.

If i have to be out quick suited and booted and facing people, then its either a shower cart shave or a single pass DE shave WTG, which looks clean-shaven enough, even if i can still feel the ATG micro stubble.

Fortunately, my work in hands-on tech support puts me either behind a remote screen, or in client environments where its enough to look clean and tidy - so i can get away with stubble / growth, so long as i trim the edge lines to look neat.

Good God no way. My crew would be worried.

A work shave whenever. Anytime from midnight through to....... the following midnight.

At home always on an evening. Don't want to give Mrs Satanfriendly rash on the inside of her thighs and she doesn't mind me smelling like a tart.

To be honest I just prefer an evening shave and can't say I notice any change in my skin from one part of the day to the next. I would sooner shave when my skin isn't so soft and the bristles are a little more pronounced.

I do tend to get better shaves in the evening when I've got the time. If I'm on a day shift and I have to shave that morning, they are never as good as my evening shave partly due to time and getting ready for work and partly due to shaving after a bike ride.
My evening shaves are my relaxing time.

For me it's evening. My toddler son is asleep and I won't be interrupted, I can take my time and my face has overnight to settle from any irritation before I'm out among the people. The downside is that there's some regrowth early in the day.

I don't like to shave first thing in the morning if I can avoid it. Shaving when I'm still half asleep invariably results in a less enjoyable shave, plus I'd rather have the extra ten minutes in bed. I'm fortunate that my stubble doesn't grow that fast so I still look presentable even if I've shaved the evening before.

My favourite time though is probably late afternoon at the weekend, when I can take my time and enjoy it. Preferably followed by a trip to the pub afterwards, albeit that hasn't been possible for a few months and probably won't be for a few months more.

During lockdown, I've found that I'm increasingly likely to shower and shave in the evening and then lounge around in my dressing gown...basically ready for bed, even if it's still only around 7pm. The knowledge that no-one is likely to be visiting is remarkably liberating. One advantage of current circumstances at least!

Best time of the day for me is morning preferably after not shaving for 3 days. The shave usually results in BBS which lasts most of the day.
