Best music opening line of all time

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh Lord yeah!

Winner, well for me anyway as a massive fan of the band.

I saw on a documentary and Geezer said at the height of their fame they played a gig in the States in the midst of the Vietnam war and members of the crowd held up vets in wheel chairs during this song.

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

My favourite Hendrix opening lines at this moment in time might be

'Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind...'

or

'If the sun refused to shine...'

How about.

I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I stand up next to a mountain
I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand
'Cause I'm a voodoo child
Voodoo child. Lord knows I'm a voodoo child.

'If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, all the same to me'

or

'Now there's a backseat lover
That's always undercover
And I talk 'til my daddy say
Said you ain't seen, nothin'
Til you're down on the muffin'

or though I do think they may have been taking something
I think that is almost certainly true -

'Hi there, nice to be with you, glad you could stick around.
Like to introduce `Legs' Larry Smith, drums
And Sam Spoons, rhythm pole
And Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, bass guitar
And Neil Innes, piano.
Come in Rodney Slater on the saxophone
With Roger Ruskin Spear on tenor sax.
I, Vivian Stanshall, trumpet.
Say hello to big John Wayne, xylophone
And Robert Morley, guitar.
Billy Butlin, spoons.
And looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on vibes.
Nice!'

'We're so glad to see so many of you lovely people here tonight.
And we would especially like to welcome all the representatives
of the Illinois law enforcement community who have chosen to join us
in the Palace Hotel ballroom at this time.'

or

'Think, think, think, think,
think, think, think, you think,
think, think, think, think, think about,
you'd better think.'

Sounds a little blue to me. Belushi, shame the man was messed up, loved him in Animal House 9ne of the best opening lines

'I-I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air'
