Bay Rum

Make your own?

I think I will make a professional version, l have the following:

Perfumers Alcohol
Distilled Water
Clove EO
Bay EO on order
Allspice EO on order
Various Citrus EO's - maybe Lime and Orange

I think that's very similar to the stuff that arrived today. I may add some Sorbitol.

My order of Stirling, Vines Vintage and Lucky Tiger bay rums have arrived. The first smells like a bay rum, the second smells disgusting, and the third is a light odd fragrance. I have ordered more Charles Baldwin bay rum, it's equally as good as the Harris but not so expensive.

It's disappointing I can't try Ogallala, Captain's Choice, Turtle Bay, Grand Bay, or Barbary Coast bay rums.

Great Idea. Im in the process of making my own preshave. don't think I'll ever buy any again. im waiting on one item coming from Amazon and its ready, hopefully should be here tomorrow. Sandlewood essential oil

The only bay rum I have tried is Trumpers, which I didn't like at all. I would describe it as a weak, watery cloves smell. Is that typical of bay rums? If not, which one would be the most traditional barber-shop type to try? I'm not very fond of cloves, so if that is the predominant scent I'll probably not bother.

I use the Pinaud which I love, but was unaware about the synthetics for which I read in the OP.

I don't know if that is much of a problem. Any thoughts anyone ??

the scent though I find magnificent...

Most do.

Both Phoenix & Beau (Imperial Rum) and Barrister and Mann (Bay Rum) specifically state they do not use any clove so could be worth checking those out?

Thanks for the recommendations. I went on the Phoenix and Beau website and ended up buying two lots of shaving soap! (one admittedly was the Imperial Rum).
