AS alternative?

Someone from the darkside has reported getting great results from using this product as an AS. If you are a Witch Hazel user it might be worth a shot.

The Tea Tree oil may diminish the Witch Hazel smell; in which case it would be worth a look. I have some of the Boots Witch Hazel - even with some EO in it, the smell is a little unpleasant. Feels good as a toner but not enough to sway me from Thayers.

I use Boots Witch Hazel in a cheap pump bottle and its great as a toner.... what essential oil do you add?
I thought of trying to sort out the smell and make it more like Thayers and other american products?

Guy, I tried adding Lavendar, then Orange then a shed load of others. It smells better than it did originally - I should have given each EO more time to blend in before adding the next. I've read on another shaving site that a dash of Aqua Velva and Barbasol Musk works well. I guess you could add a dash or two of whatever AS you prefer.

this is actually available in my tiny Boots so i might be tempted to get some in future.

there is also a foaming version of the same product for cleaning pluke-ridden teeny boppers

I make my own mixture using a 60/40 ratio of Organic Aloe gel to Witch Hazel and add about 5-10 drops of Olbas oil. I keep this in a Neal's Yard pump bottle. Really cheap, cooling and effective.

I find this concept interesting, I have never messed about with scents in case I created the smell of a wasp in heat or something like that (knowing my luck). I have tried mixing a cream and soap with good results.

I must pick up a bottle of that witch hazel. Seems like a nice cheap alternative, I assume they just use the witch hazel as it comes as an A/S?

Don't get it on any mucous membranes you may have about your person though - it cools for about 3µs then burns for about 12 hours. I speak from experience.
We are talking about your nose here? or do you splash it all over like brut

As a kid I had a Brut fight with my brother, this stuff ran down my back and down the crack.
It was only then that I truely knew what Johnny Cash was taking about.

OK - I shall elaborate... I put a few drops on my handkerchief because I had a bunged up nose.... I was outside and had a quick snort of the Olbas when a gust of wind blew the corner of the handkerchief into my eye...

It wasn't as bad as my rugby-playing friend's Ralgex incident though... there we were on the bus back from a match, and Bob (name changed to protect his modesty) had picked up a groin strain during the match. He decided the thing to do was Ralgex the area ASAP, so keks down on the bus Ralgex at the ready, started spraying and the bus went over a bump. His crown jewels caught a blast of Ralgex... When we got back to the club, he ran into the bar in about 3 strides, grabbed somebody's pint off the bar whipped off his strides and dropped his tackle into the lager - possibly the best use of lager I've ever encountered.

One of my mates used to refer to it as "Nipple Burner" - he "splashed it on all over" like 'Enry said - but what 'Enry omitted to mention was "don't get it on your nipples or it'll burn like buggery"
