Apollo XI - in cinemas now

I'd urge you to see this documentary, in IMAX if you can.

50th Anniversary of the launch on 16th of this month.

If I had children, I'd take them along to watch this. One can only imagine the technological wonders they'll witness in the next fifty years.

I will watch that!
Brian Eno is also doing a live show of his Apollo album at the barbican with a backdrop of Apollo documentary footage.

Watched it last night; one of the best films I have seen on the space race - so much new detail in the quality of the film. I'm going to have to see it again, it was that good.

It was my IMAX 'baptism', and I don't think I could wish for a better one. Rather fear it's going to spoil me for all future cinema experiences.

This was really jolly good! Thanks again for that tip-off. The Barbican Centre is a bugger to get lost in, though!

Yes it is and I found the acoustics were a bit crap when I went last. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Incidentally, I only recently discovered that "a barbican (from Old French: barbacane) is a fortified outpost or gateway, such as an outer defence to a city or castle, or any tower situated over a gate or bridge which was used for defensive purposes" (Wiki).

Presumably there was just such a fortification/gate on the site, as part of the walls of the City of London.
