Anyone own a Seiko 5?

I think that Creation may have learnt... I ticked the pay tax in advance option. It took a while longer to arrive (8-days) and seems to have been shipped as a part of a larger batch then split off for local UK delivery by Royal Mail. I guess that would save money compared to the shipment of a single watch and certainly save on customs clearances to do them all together.
I will be deeply miffed if, having assumed that taxes were paid HMRC ask for more.
Has something changed then ?

It’s been a little while since I purchased from Creation. But when I did they use to come through as “Measuring Instrument”. And the value somewhat dumbed down to sneak under the customs threshold. All of mine first touched down in Germany before coming on through to the UK too.

Yes, very reliable... Can take a surprising amount of abuse.

Photo prior to strap adjustment (was 1 link too short - ouch!)
Hi I’m a newbie here so please be gentle. I’ve had one of these watches for many a year but before Christmas it finally died , it had been poorly for a while bezel lost, glass scratched etc in a nutshell it has been neglected , you know the story new watch comes along then another while the Seiko gets abandoned and stuck in the drawer .but in this household we never put a watch down ,it will be looked at lovingly sharing memories of when we were both young and had more hair and less lines on the face (me not the watch).

@Luka you can get these movements for the 5 for about 40 quid. Probably cheaper than an overhaul. Buy one online and get a watchmaker to swap it over. If the case and glass has taken a battering that can be repaired too.

@Eeyore68 and @tuxxdk that is 20-25 Euro on top of the VAT? That is outrageous. Some are helpful. When I bought a straight razor from Larry at Whipped Dog he undervalued the item and labelled it "tonsorial supplies" so it arrived without charge. A lot of US vendors get assy over this and often refuse international business anyway so I seldom buy from America.

My watch arrived with Royal Mail Tracked 48h, looks like it got mailed from a company called "Trackbay" in the UK.

Watch reviews by Les Patterson. :)
Gosh, he is reserved about his opinions isn't he (!).

Yes, I have one really 'nice' watch that I use 50% of the time but to me, watches are really the only piece of 'jewellery' that I wear other than a wedding ring. Feeding my watch habit at >£1k ea. is totally unrealistic. So changing watches with my mood at £100 a pop, with about 6 in a draw to choose from works for me.
