I am not bidding btw

BOAB!!! If I was a mod I would ban you, I wondered where all the extra interest came from suddenly with half an hour to go? ;)

I did bid ...twice in fact. Once the bidding went above my snipe, I went a bit higher manually but fifty quid was around my limit. I thought it would hit between £60 and £70, still a good deal though given the prices these guys are fetching and if it is as immaculate as it looks. Oh well.

it looked nice I agree,I was also surprised to see a flurry of bids in the last half hour, who'd have thunk it.

I am unbannable btw :p there's actually a little check box in the admin panel that you can select to make people invincible muahahahahahahahahahahaha

Found it.

I am a great Ebay fan as you will see from my post in the lounge. But I am NEVER going to get into a bidding war on something that has been highlighted on any of the shaving forums. Strikes me you are virtually certain to pay an inflated price. I nearly did that to get a Fatboy until someone kindly pointed me in the right direction to a website selling vintage razors at a fair price. My bells are different. I can quietly spot a bargain hoping that my odd competitor is not around. The bell fraternity keep quiet when something comes up on Ebay. Even when they post a photo of their new purchase they don't mention where they got it. Discussion stimulates demand. Demand pushes prices UP! Good if you are the seller. Come to think it.............

The auction had already ended before I had even realised Boab had drawn attention to it, even so it wouldn't have made any difference as I basically set my price, maybe a slight skirmish in the end but no bidding war ensued that is the beauty of the electronic snipe.

I decide my absolute maximum and bid with 4 seconds left. It makes no sense to declare your hand earlier. Publicity will always create extra interest and will drive up prices. Good if you are the seller.

I agree...that's why using automated bidding software is virtually fool proof...bidding no more than you need to win and not exceeding your'e limit set. It takes all the "fun" out of hovering around that bid button, set your'e limit, fire and forget, rarely is it ever an issue of timing anymore.
