I played Eve for a while but haven't subscribed for years, last week I got back into Elite Dangerous. Mostly transporting tourists around and or trading rare goods. VR is available and I am contemplating shelling out for it, I just worry it will end up making me sick
I keep an eye on Star citizen in the hope that it gets released....

I backed Star Citizen right at the beginning and still occasionally have a go at the Alphas they put out, going to be a year or two before it gets to beta at this rate. I've not had a go at Elite Dangerous yet.

I hope it gets released, latest teaser trailers look amazing but it's taking a very long time.
Elite is very good, much better with the horizons add on. I find it very relaxing going on long exploration runs or just trading rare goods for credits. Being set in the milky way it is vast as you would expect, with a fuel scoop fitted to a ship you can refuel from certain stars meaning travel to pretty much anywhere in the galaxy is possible... if you have the time and the inclination. Apparently less than 0.1% has been discovered.

It sounds really tempting, whats the piloting learning curve like? The SC one is pretty steep, though it'll change again when 3.0 shows up I bet.
Pretty straightforward, the tutorials are very good and if you have the right ship you can multi crew (one on guns, one on helm etc) it's a little grindy at the beginning of course but it doesn't take long to start earning and upgrading.

Base game is £20 plus £20 if you want horizons add on which will let you land on planets. I think it may have been on steam sale recently. I don't recall seeing it on sale at steam so I prefer to buy direct from the devs. Saves Valve nicking all the profits. There is plenty to do in the base game, in fact I only just bought horizons. Freelancer was a great game , loved it. This is a whole new level of open universe though. You can pretty much do anything you want.

I thought this guy's reaction was quite funny when he realises the scope of the map.:D

It's worth that. Be aware that it's not story driven at all. You make your own way through. There are missions available at every station but the game play really is up to you.
