Any opinions on the Lilac Veg

Just purchased my first Pinaud aftershave the Lime Sec must admit on smelling the bottle I was a bit put off but after applying it I quite like it. I'm now considering the Lilac Veg as one of my favourite scents is violet and Lilac is kinda similar, I know that the floral scent isn't for everyone but any opinions of those who use it would be appreciated. Any violet scent lovers that like the veg too ?

Just got a bottle of each yesterday, not sure on the Lime Sec but I'm not really into citrus that much anyway... Lilac Vegetal on the other hand is beautiful, it's lilac, powdery florals and a hint of musk. Smells similar to TOBS No.74 if you're familiar with that?

Thank you for your reply I really like the sound of that think I will have to give it a go, read the horror stories on the other forums but not every scent is for everyone so it's good to hear an opinions from somebody who enjoys florals, I haven't smelt to TOBS No 74 but may have to try that out too now...Enabled !!

Oh yes, I read them too... "Urinal puck", "cat pee" etc etc... It's really nothing like that at all, I can only assume the people making those comments are so conditioned to modern Cologne scents that anything different comes as a huge shock to the nose lol. I'm just as bad but in reverse, I'm sure Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel have lots of nuanced notes but to me all I get is "synthetic chemical headache".

Lol funny you should say that I went to boots to test the sauvage and thought the same thing chemicals, smelt like a cheap edt I bought years ago and never liked only rebranded in a different bottle, defo gonna give the veg a go after hearing your opinion think it will be just what I'm looking for

you must try pashana a/s too if you like non modern scents. it's very strong but it's a winner
I do like some modern scents but the ones I have tested recently I've been glad I hadn't blind bought, my favourites are florals, fougere, citrus, quite like a clean musky scent with a sweeter or citrusy top note and the same with leather, love the creed green Irish tweed and the aventus. I'm expecting the Aventus for Christmas it's not the real deal but is supposed to be made in the same factory and just packaged differently..we shall see ! Will have a read up about the pashana thanks for the recommendation

I like both the Pashana and Lilac Vegetal, for their old-fashioned scents. As noted, many people detest them, and often liken them to various household cleaners, or something to do with old ladies, but if that be so, then they're cleaners I've never had in my house, and unlike any old ladies I know!

Both these are quite powerful when first applied, but very quickly (a matter of minutes, usually) dry down to a soft, floral talc-like scent. This doesn't have a great deal of staying power or "room projection", unlike many modern concoctions, and you won't spend the day reeking like a scented badger. In other words, they're more for the individual to smell good to himself, rather than advertise his presence to the world. Of course, all scents may work differently on different people, so I speak from my own experience.

I like that statement more for the individual to smell good to himself..that's what it's all about to me. Thanks for sharing your opinion, when people say that these florals are for old women it makes me laugh as looking back over history it's men who wore them originally. The lilac veg is an aftershave I've wanted since starting wet shaving around 2 years ago, I stayed clear after reading some of the comments on other forums but in all honesty I think I've been missing out, the way it's been described on here I think it could be a favourite for me !!

The Veg. It's floral in a "rotten flowers" sense... Sweet... as in terribly sweet...

Exactly, I don't like it. My wife didn't either. It shows how different we all are...

Amazing how differently we interpret scents isn't it? I understand what you mean about the sweetness, it does seem to have the same syrupy base as Clubman. Flowers yes, and lots of them but not rotten... When first applied I get that distinct smell of a florist shop.

Yup. My wife thought that a 'Mediterranean forest' soap by JabonMan smelled of... shoe polish!
