Any blades you won't buy again?

Well Voskhod is the first time I can say I've noticed a blade perform differently from razor to razor. It really was awful in the iKon OC, but it was fine in the DE89.

I'm finding some mixed results with 7 o'clock Yellows and Nacets. I'm even wondering if this is the same blade - same factory. They're both clearly sharp and can give a rough first shave in a more efficient razor if you use too much pressure. Both seem to bring milder razors back to life. They both seem to get a little smoother after the first shave as well.

Years ago, I bought 100 Personna Lab Blues, and stuck them at the back of my blades drawer. I came across them the other day, and put one in my Barbaros TR-1.

The results were disappointing. The blade was very blunt, and more like shaving with a butter knife. It was the same when I tried it in a humpback slant.

I seem to think that they were an expensive purchase, which I won't repeat; not that I need to, as I still have about 96 of them.

I keep wondering if Gillette Silver Blue and Voskhod are the same blade. Not 100% sure but damn it's close.

Maybe all of the blades coming out of PPI have both a global (Gillette) brand and domestic (Russian sounding) brand version - it would make good business sense, surely?

Voskhod's are my go to blade however bought 50 GSB and the Gillette is definitely sharper. Would put it almost on a par with a feather but much smoother. Voskhod's just don't have the same level of sharpness to be the same blade but as always YMMV.

So far the worst I have experienced are:
  • Gillette/Wilkinson Sword (Made in India) - constant tugging and let my face with blood, irritation and still beard on it (tried on Tech, Wilkie Classic and Feather Popular so far)
  • Gillette Super Thin (Made in Thailand) - slightly better than the above mentioned
  • Derby (Green pack)
  • Gillette 7 o'clock Green
  • Bolzano
  • Wilkinson Sword

I had though that Sharks were on my don't buy again list when I used then im my Merkur 27C. But I tried them in another razor (Merkur 39C) and they were ok--not great, but ok. They were certainly as good as the Derbys that I'll use in that razor from time to time

So I suppose it's more of a razor+blade combo that one ought never to use again.

But perhaps I've got low standards ... .

I bought 100 Voskhods off ebay seller unuta77. I have had these blades from different vendors in the past and loved them but these are rough on the first shave and completely unusable for a second.
Wouldn't discount the Voskhods but would advise staying away from this seller.

Funny you say that. I bought a pack of Voskhods to try from eBay (but not from the seller you mentioned). Just shaved with them, in my Parker 97R DE razor, and I found them to be exactly how you say. Rough, not slicing through the hairs very efficiently. I still managed to get a BBS shave everywhere, apart from my chin, and no irritation whatsoever. But the shave wasn't the most comfortable for sure. I may try them again in my Braveheart or R41, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
