Alien Life?

Experiementing with vintage equipment I had no idea that what I was clicking was going to end up some insane world of teeming bokeh!

Surely alien life?

It's lichen, taken with a Meyer-Optik Gorlitz 50mm Domiplan at f/1.8 (as the aperture is stuck open) on the end of some Hanimex extension tubes. These are some of the outtakes - the ones that "worked" show lichen, just lichen in macro, sterile and uninteresting. It's pictures like these that take you completely by surprise!

The lens is actually from my Uncle's Praktica (film camera) as was back in the day. I'm guessing 1960s as Meyer-Optik rebranded as Pentacon early on in the 1970s. It's not fully functional and I have had it in bits, but it's beyond my repair. The optics are just lovely and the more I use it, the more I'm falling for the really rather peculiar bokeh that this lens gives. That's the round out of focus circles that are produced when light hits the object.
