Acquisitions

Today, I received a package in the post from a friend in the colonies (he's in Maryland) containing the following:

Aqua Velva (Ice Blue - large bottle)
Corn Huskers Lotion
Kiss My Face unscented cream
Van der Hagen deluxe
Williams
and his own blend ASB.

All from a chance remark leading to the shipment of many shave sticks to the colonies :D

Nice haul :)

Get some pics up.

I received a 'La Toja' shave stick today, going to have a try with it tonight.

I received my La Toja stick (and a LEA one) on Saturday from Scott and used the La Toja twice. I really like it. Fantastic for face lathering, I am considering this as my holiday shaving stick.

Terrible name but nice soap, "I rubbed La Toja over my face" sounds somewhat suspect especially when afterwards you say you really enjoyed the creamy lather that came from the La Toja.

Two packages today. One from Sabre and other from Freddy88,a member in TSD.
Sabre sent me 2 Arko sticks and one Boots refill with an Erasmic holder. Thanks mate
Freddy sent me Caswell-Massey ASB and shaving cream. Thanks my friend.
Two gentleman indeed.

Was browsing 'the bay' at the weekend and came across a NOS Rooney brush with a very low starting price. To be honest I am not too well up on rooney and this brush could be either a fake or a "bobby rooney" and have nothing to do with the well regarded brand discussed here and on other forums.

Anyway worth taking a punt on, so I bid and won. Total expenditure including postage was £3.99 - so if it comes out similar to a wilkinson sword boar then I will be happy and it will end up in a travel bag.

It arrived today, nice and small, quite a stiff brush - but I still have no clue what I actually bought. As NOS, it did smell dusty so I have swirled it on coconut oil soap and run coconut hair conditioner through the brush a number of times. It has softened a bit, started to bloom and certainly smells better. It lost about ten bristles during this process, I am hoping this will settle down as I come to use it. First shave planned for tomorrow morning :p

Here are some photos - one comparing it in size to my Vulfix #2198 Pure Badger Brush.
If anyone has any idea to what it is I have bought please let me know, cheers.

I pretty certain that is the genuine article. I've seen them before, it's a little boar brush that's probably been dyed hence the shedding and the stink or it's a two band in which case you are very lucky. Either way I would certainly use it.

I don't think it's been dyed; not sure what I am looking for but it didn't actually stink. When you say stink I guess you mean like a new badger or similar - this was definitely a faint smell of dustiness inline with something that has spent many years on a high shelf in an old corner shop.

For reasons of hygeine I washed and cleaned.. it lost no more than ten bristles and I have washed and dried again in the past hour with no losses.

Will see how it goes, happy at £4 gamble - but may I ask why I would be very lucky if it is a genuine two band? Forgive my ignorance.
