A little money to spend on a brush.....

My experience is that one can use either/or, but my preference is Badger for cream and Boar for soap.
At least it was, until I tried the Vulfix 404 Badger/Boar mix brush.

At that price I'd be able to get me some Guinness too. Is it that good a brush compared to others in that price market?
Hi mate.If you want a good brush for its price I will recommend you Semogue or Omega. The Semogue 1305/1800 and 1520 are really nice. Also the new limited edition is like having a silvertip brush with the backbone of boar. The Omegas are really nice too, specially the #49.

Beoe you purchase, have a look at a brand new badger hair brush i will be selling in the next 1-2 days. It's a Muhle best badger brush. I''m finishing taking pictures of my items to sell, including the brush, and will put up a thread soon.

Buy a 404 mix as suggested by Sir Prize for about a tenner, if and when you want to upgrade and you are handy purchase a standard or extra haired Finest knot (either are good) from Golden Nib which may slightly exceed your budget but will be the best brush you can really buy for £25.00. See Brush review.

Are there any places in the UK that sell brush knots? When i searched golden nib on google, it was an American site.
I have access to a lathe at college, and im pretty decent on it, and can also get a decent bit of wood, so could always make one of my own.
Not sure about that though.

Vulfix do - that's were Antony Turchetta (the golden nib) gets his British knots from. Although I guess they probably don't do singles...

Don't know about any 'distributors' of knots in the UK, but you could try some of the larger woodturning suppliers (Peter Child, Axminster, some of the 'smaller' large ones). I also think that Willy van Houte in Belgium may have a few - as do Dick in Germany.

Both Chris and me have a decent stock of knots too, we could make you one ;-)

Who says a handle needs to be wood or polyester?

i'd get a Vulfix 404 mix, then a pure bristle later on

if i could only have one brush for the rest of my days this'd be it.

You are Tiger Woods and I claim my £5.00.

ps. Mega cool looking brush!

It's not mine BS, of all the adaptations I have seen for makeshift handles, the golf ball is one of my favorites along with a socket from a socket set.

Can do the handle myself. Its mainly if i can get my 3D teacher, or another wood working teacher to 'supervise'(just be in the room for insurance reasons) so i can make the handle.
Bit reluctant to buy a knot from abroad, my parents have made me buying online, although i dont mind it and do do it.
