Just a really rough one as there wasn't anything suitable found on the image search...

They do appear superficially similar but when compared I think the 3ONE6 has more in common (geometry wise) with the DE89... That said, they're all fairly similar!
Rohleder,

Thanks for working your magic on the images. Here is an image of a Merkur 38c (left) and the 3ONE6 (right).

I finally got a shave with the 3one6 that did not include any nicks or weepers! Woohoo!

I made two changes, they are:

1. I used an Astra SP blade. Smooth and sharp - no complaints here.

2. I rode the the cap much more than I normally do and I think this was the dominant factor.

It is clear to me that the 3one6 is more aggressive than the DE89 so after a bit of research I changed my angle of attack. Bingo! Success!

Got a dang fine shave this morning so now at least I have a plan to work with. With the shallow angle of attack I can see where the lighter aluminum handle might be a benefit; I have the all steel handle.

Thank you all for listening to the ups and downs of my 3one6 journey! You are indeed a fine group!

The 3one6 is way more aggressive than the de89. Your first shave should have alerted you to that fact -- and also the mixed reviews on its aggressiveness/mildness. Glad you found the right blade/angle combination for your face. YMMV.
Yeah, what I really want is a steel DE89 or maybe EJ can have a version of the 3one6 that is less aggressive. Kind of like the Game Ghanger .68 vs .84.

Indeed, I did find the angle that works for me but that doesn’t mean I like shaving that way. I don’t find riding the cap very intuitive. In any case, I will give it some more time to see how I adapt.

Blade exposure looks neutral but the gap is larger than the DE89. Therefore at the neutral angle use less pressure. Here is an illustration on one of your pictures; the blade is not clearly in focus but you get the idea. This design is not significantly dissimilar from the Game Changer .84 in terms of blade gap.

I just had an idea - we’ll see whether or not it is a brilliant idea? Lol!

Tomorrow I will put the 3one6 top cap on my DE89. The 3one6 cap looks a bit thicker but will give it go and see if it works.
