3one6 ordered

Manufactured to order I note; EJ have been very tentative about this razor.
I can't see any mention of how long this "to order" thing will take, apart from the "deliveries could be affected by customer demand".

I thought for a moment I was having delusions, as the Geofatboy Youtube unboxing showed his 3one6 as weighing 74g, rather than the 58.9 on the EJ website. Then I see that the EJ site has the razor with aluminium handles, rather than stainless; but I do like the colours available.

Although this isn't one for me, I'll be interested to hear how quickly the new owners receive, and get on with, theirs.

Was tempted to order one of these this morning when I got the launch email. I'll hold on for some reviews first in case it's too mild. Their description of barely any blade feel sounds a bit worrying.

Both handles are shown; 85g with stainless steel knurled handle and 59g for the anodised aluminium handle option. Same price for both so you have a choice.

...marketing techniques have changed greatly and EJ are clearly exercising caution. I think they are being smart and learning from Muhle's disaster with the Rocca launch which required years and numerous iterations to correct; indeed I would be surprised if Muhle has realised any profit at all on the Rocca even now what with the numerous recalls / refunds and replacements. I suspect EJ are going for alimited release with one or two large distributors first, to test the water so to speak. If there are problems with the 316 it will be cheaper to deal with a few disributors rather than a global distribution network. As for expecting EJ to demonstrate some patriotism, why?' business is amoral and always has been. If there were more money in it being released in the UK first, then they would. Made in the UK? or assembled in the UK? I also suspect Brits shavers would be vociferous if there are any problems with the 316. I notice on that well known US forum everyone is almost always positive about every product...there are very few negative reviews. And ShaveNation reviews are always anodyne...I would like to think on the UK forums, that if the product is not up to scratch, members would say so...
Interesting, made with 316 Sheffield steel but where was it made? In the Uk, China or Pakistan who knows, it would be nice to think it was made in the uk and not just packaged here. P.

It says 100% made in the UK, so I presume it was at least 90% made in the UK....

Well that's good to hear, it's been a while since a razor was made in the UK. Thank you for clearing that up for me. :) P.

What and when was the last razor to be manufactured in the UK? Anyone!
There are no prizes for the correct answer but it would be interesting to know. :)

I have no idea tbh. AKAIK the EJ DE89's were never really clear in where they were made, whether they were just plated in the UK.

For modern DE style razors, I think the guys at Windrose have been making handles and a few heads in the UK for the last few years or so. Prior to that I presume it was back when Wilkinson & Gillette were making razors in the UK?

Back to EJ, good to see them making a SS razor in the UK and I hope those who ordered it will be pleased with it when it's delivered.

Yes indeed, I also hope it is well received by those who have ordered one, 316 Stainless steel made in the Uk and retaiing for £75.00, Can't be bad! :) P.

Interestingly the English Shaving Company pages states "Brand new two part head made using metal injection moulding", so it isn't CNC tooled like a lot of other SS razors. I'll be interested to see how the finishing of the head compares to similarly priced CNC tooled razors like the Razorock GC and Mamba or the Blackland Dart.

If it is all truly manufactured in the UK i think £75 is a great price.

I succumbed to major RAD yesterday and ordered both the knurled and red version. I've just spoken with ESC who stated that each razor is manufactured to order (in the UK). Mine should be dispatched by the end of the week. A SS razor made to order in England for £75 - I'm happy with that!

If the photos are anything to go by the finishing looks excellent. The Feather AS-D2 is made the same way, CNC doesn't make sense for large-scale production.

Out of interest, may I ask why you're ordering and buying from ESC, and not direct from Edwin Jagger?

English Shaving Company (ESC) are a branch of Edwin Jagger. They're the same company. If I'm not mistaken, I think the 'buy' buttons on the EJ website route you to ESC.
