100+ shaves with Omega boar. Currently in a DIY handle using same loft as original 108 brush. Scrubby! I bowl lather and after soaking brush under tap and some serious whipping to create lather face feel is surprisingly scrubby. It is still part of my rotation but I would imagine face lathering being an uncomfortable affair. And to compare all my other Omega models have been softer than this straight out of the box and I suspect this is due to sample variation rather than a plan from Omega to create models with different feel.

The star of the show as ever are your homemade handles. You have a gift for woodwork.

My experiences with Omega boars are similar to yours, I've had a few that were incredibly soft out straight out of the box, others stiff and scrubby.

Nonetheless, I seem to enjoy using Omega boars more than all my other brushes.

Good to see your Omega boar knot make it to 100+ or so. Has it lost many bristles in that time? Is it still holding lather well?

I would not soak the brush under tap water only. I put my boar in a cup with cold water covering 80% of the knot before going to bed. When i wake up, I wash the brush under hot water, squeeze and face lather. It'll be as soft as a badger but with the right backbone.

re loosing bristle: my scrubby boar surprised me by loosing one this morning, blaming a slight mishap with hacksaw when removing black plastic container from knot before planting it in new handle, normally loosing bristle is a non issue with this knot. And it is holding lather well.

re holding lather: I had two bleached boars from Zenith, both showing the same odd behaviour, when I reached for brush to start second pass, what the f? lather gone, I was not patient enough to figure out how and why this happened to knot so: Binned!

My bleached Zenith was exactly the same, but my unbleached one is excellent but for whatever reason I've never quite got around to developing a love for the brush like with my 2 unbanded unbleached Omega pigs; a 11819 (same knot as a 10066 but a different handle) and a 10075 (23mm/48mm)

I have the omega Jade. It is very soft after couple of shaves, but has great backbone provided you don't soak it in hot water for long. I do like it a lot. I also have couple other Omegas, one being the 48. I am having a tough time mastering that one. Works great with creams, but hard soap is a bit tough to lather... at least for me..
