I'm sure such things do happen but i'd like to think the majority of our hard working farmers innocent until proven guilty when it comes to such matters. They are hit by cars all the time here, we've hit two ourselves... Last one cracked the front bumper.

Please don't get wrong I wasn't saying they are all doing this but we had a good few farmers kids at our college who will tell you it does happen.

One of the lads the other day was saying his parents won't have any hunt activity on their land. Being sheep farmers I suppose they wouldn't want dogs running around, but from what he said they appear anti hunt

Proper hunting for traditional meat gathering and game management should be encouraged, and taught.

Killing for entertainment or trophy is hard to justify. For centuries hunters have sought the kill the biggest, healthiest, most perfect of examples they could find, leaving lesser specimens to breed future generations. Culling for herd reduction, combined with selective removal of less-than-the-best animals, is a much better approach.

I'm not sure how this any relevance to wet shaving in the slightest bit, but I agree with the point above.

Mainly as game can be f*cking delicious, venison and rabbit in particular are some of my favourite things to cook.

I miss the days when 'normal' butchers (eg like the one in Tooting Broadway market before the hipsters moved in) used to sell good game at fairly cheap prices (eg a whole rabbit/pheasant for less than a shrink wrapped supermarket steak)

I hope this is not too critical, and debate is healthy of course, but subjects like this can quickly become inflammatory.

Now I don't of course know what Steve said to get banned and I don't need to, but I wonder if moderators here, can/should close a thread (not remove) before things are allowed to go to far and people get upset?

I love my Badger Brush, however when I purchased it I guess I was niece thinking that badgers were I guess shaved?? I didn't realise they had to be killed and if I had I wouldn't have bought it.

If it was a by product of the meat industry, then I could be ok with it, if I knew the animals had had a good life before hand and were slaughtered in the most humane way possible, but it's my understanding this is not the case.

I wear leather shoes and I believe this to be ok because it's my understanding that leather is a by product of the meat industry.

As for fox hunting, i believe personally it's wrong on so many levels, but if the fox population is indeed in need of being controlled, then killing the fox humanely should be the priority, not running the animal to exhaustion through the terror of being chased by a pack of vicious dogs (nothing against the dogs here though they are doing what they have been trained for) and they often ripped apart before being shot. We should strive for better imho.

Just my 2cents.

Threads have been and can be closed but it is difficult to know if and when to do it. Mods do not wish to stifle reasonable debate and the issue debated here is a reasonable one for discussion and information.

One thing that everyone should be aware of it that racist language and epithets will not be tolerated at any time.

Mods also rely on other members to bring unacceptable posts to light by reporting them. In the absence of reports, the beginnings of a conflagration may be missed.

Having said that, this thread is pretty much exhausted so I will close it.
