Vulfix 404 Grosvenor Mixed Badger and Boar Shaving Brush

Mine shed like a dog and turned to mush. I still liked it but had I paid more than a tenner for it I wouldn't have.

Well why didn't you tell me that before I bought it? Oh well, I am still really curious to try it out and see what it's like. I mainly use my big scratchy boar brush so it should prove a decent contrast. My Semogue 1305 is completely knackered. Partly because it was a dodgy early one which kept chipping and partly because I let my toddler play with it. So I'm pretty much down to just one brush. I would be letting the side down unless I started to increase my stock somewhat. Only two DE razors is bad enough but at least I have the straight now.

Ì have had this brush for 2 years and was considering a best badger upgrade. However, each time i use it, I wonder if I should. Loads of lather, even with MWF in hard water area.
No hair shedding and by now really soft but with great backbone.
I have a Mùhle synthetic but there is no comparison with the lather , or ease of creating lather. Enough for 3 or 4 passes,, although I only need 2 with my Rocca.

I found this thread by doing a search for reviews. Thought I'd just add my thoughts . Didn't know this was not allowed!! Unless a product has changed, then why not keep all reviews together. If any previous posters have upgraded from this brush, the I'd welcome their thoughts,.

Buy one cheap as chips an excellent performer and the handle is worth it if you don't like the brush.
@Roy you can't really compare it to a more expensive best badger or silvertip brush because it's a boar/badger mix. Boar has very different properties to badger. Mainly it's stiffer and scrubbier (at least at first). Also a lot of it comes down to preference my silvertip stays in the cupboard, my 404 and cheap horse get used every day.
