The Bullgoose Asylum RX razor - are you getting one?

Phil (Bullgoose Shaving) recently mentioned the price will be about $230.00 I think but not absolutely sure that will include USA shipping. For international shipping probably north of $250.00 + Customs. He is making 300 RX razors to begin with and I suspect will sell those out pretty quickly.

$250 + customs?

Looking at best part of $300.

Hmmm... I don't think I want one that badly.

Might have to look at an ATT or more probably an Executive shaving one.

I like the Rx but the price is a show stopper. I can't justify it when my mongoose works great for me.... And that rocnel as new se for feather coming out ...

Bullgoose created a FB page specifically for the RX and have two beta testers discussing their impressions of it. So far it seems like a "Goldilocks" review - Not too aggressive, not too mild, just right. I got a couple more weeks to decide if the $230 is worth it as it puts it right in the middle of the Cobra price ranges. Of course I can see that by the machining of the head, this is more than a top cap screwed to a bottom slab and so I am sure the price will remain there. For you folks across the pond, I can see where you would be paying somewhere just south of $300 unless one of your places cuts a deal with Bullgoose.

The two testers are his MODS so you know how that will come out. I am waiting for the Claymore to arrive.

If you don't mind aluminum, the General (59$) and the Hawk (20$) should come out soon.

Let's not forget the Ikon/Shavecraft El Jefe. If the pricing on the X3 is any indicator, this one should also come in around $60. Slantman mentioned that Greg said it would be released "soon".

Note: if you are thinking about purchasing this razor when it is available it appears that the Feather Pro Super DOES NOT fit this razor head. One of the testers had trouble loading the blade and more problems unloading it.

Did not find that part just yet, but did find the part where they said the ProGuard would not fit because of the thickness of the blade. I know that the Super Pro is also thicker than the normal blades and can see where it might cause problems also. I can tell by the pictures of the head that the Feather Lights will not work because it had that strange middle hole different from all the other blades. I know that the testers have mostly concentrated on the Feather Pro and Kai Titan Milds, and if what you say is true, that will limit the choices. I know a lot of folks like the Super Pro for their shaving.

So far I'm very disappointed in the feedback. Both 'testers' generally wax lyrical about anything from Bullgoose so that fact that neither have been creaming themselves over it is a major surprise.
Also that statement that without the 'nibs' at the end the blade would chatter strikes me as bollocks. Neither of my Mongooses have the nibs and the clamp the blade perfectly well without a hint of chatter. If that statement is coirrect then there's a design flaw in there somewhere. And if it's a mild razor I'll want to use a Feather Super, irrespective of any statement from Bullgoose that either the Pro or Kai Mild are good enough.

So far I'm not liking what I'm hearing and I don't like the looks either so it looks like I'll be saving myself $300 or so.

"I am not sure it was designed to fit the Pro Super. Here is a photo of a Pro Super loaded. It did not drop freely on to the pins. I set the edge on the blade stops and pushed it on to the pins. There was some slight resistance but nothing that I felt would harm anything except the leading blade edge. As far as removing the blade I had to get a fingernail under the edge and lift it off the pins. As suspected it did leave the imprint of the blade stops on the blades edge."

This is a red flag for me. I use Pro Super blades.
