SOTD : Saturday 20th - Friday 26th July

  • Charcoal level 2 Stainless Steel with Bronze handle
  • Lord Classic (3)
  • Yaqi - Evil Zebra
  • Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber (sample)
  • Van der Lovett - Aftershave Balm - Sailors Blend
Finally i got the Charcoal to behave, after two disappointing shaves i was ready to throw in the towel, but i worked in a silent bathroom this time and took good notice of the audio feedback (the little this head gives you) and Hot Damn, a BBS & DFS as was promised me!
The soap was a disappointment, the great smell dry, went to a not so great smell foamed and wet. Could be the age of the sample (it was a hand me down)
Still, a great shave, and i am glad i did not sell the Charcoal on.

Well I had mentioned that next up would be the Merkur 39C to further my research on the “Battle of the Slants”. However, while I was poking about the collection, I spotted the Rockwell 6C which has not graced the SOTD in a while so it was drafted immediately. With a few days growth I went with the R5 plate and loaded up with a Personna Lab Blue.

Soap of the day Barrister & Mann Seville a lovely smelling and performing soap. I could gladly use it everyday but that wouldn't be much fun now would it? The Simpson Colonel X2L made quick work of the soap and left me with buckets of lather to play with!

Proceeded to get through a fantastic two pass near BBS shave. Wow! I have to say I don't know why it has been left out of the rotation for as long as it has but the 6C was a very smooth and impressive shaver! It just sang along with superb audio feedback and made quick work of the beard. Fantastic all around. Midweek and starting the decent to the weekend. Enjoy the week and happy shaves all!

Picked up a couple of weepers where I got carried away on my neck but overall, a good shave. I've been de-funking the Yaqi silvertip for the past two weeks and today was its first use in anger. It performed brilliantly with the Moroccan Myrrh cream. A really comfortable brush.

Proraso Red were the first proper wet shaving products I used. Putting the pre shave on brought back some great memories of my intrepid adventures with my 34C. Amazing what a smell can do!

Greetings,

Another early morning shave.

Last outing of the the Dorco Prime Platinum blade, which has performed wonderfully throughout the week, today was yet again non exception.A non-aggressive yet efficient forgiving blade.

The Wickham 1912 irish fern sample is another wonderful performing soap like the classic 24, it provided a superb lather for the shave ,with a wonderful post shave feeling, and lovely fragrance throughout the shave.I could quite easily place a order for both of these fantastic soaps, but i'm on a ' buying no more shaving related items' until christmas time,as i have enough shaving soft & hardware to last and to appreciate for a long time.

I've learn't from experience, buying on impulse is a dangerous hole to fall down, you end up with shaving stuff you don't really need, and can't appreciate.

A comfortable 3 pass + pick ups bbs smooth shave with no errors to report.

Finishing to the shave off with a generous dollop of Morrisons ~ Fresh Aloe Moisturising Lotion.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.

;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.
