Gentlemen, summer is around the corner... more or less, I know...

Time to show off your exquisite taste and wear a classy Panama hat... If it's not raining, that is..:p

I have a couple of them, both in very 'fine' straw (paja toquilla), Fedora style, not too wide brimmed. Despite my ugly mug, I get many compliments when I wear them... They're elegant, comfortable and highly useful under the sun.

You like Panama hats? Got one... or more? Which shape, colour, hat band you like?

Err.. oops.. forgot to take a pic of mine...:( I will...

I will be getting one this summer, I've been promising myself one to give my Tilley T5 hemp sun hat a rest :) P.

I plan on getting one for the summer. Unfortunately there don't seem to be official hat grades for Ecuadorian Panama hats, so it's very difficult to know what quality you'll get when ordering online. Any suggestions on where to shop for one?

Yes, it is not easy and I prefer a proper shop to see and feel the hats.

In general, I'd say the basic ones are Brisa, then Cuenca and the top of the top are Montecristi (hundreds of pounds...). But then, there are lots of intermediate grades.

There's a site over there I like... they carry nice Panama hats (well, nice hats...), maybe you know it?
