Bit late to the party with this one. Received in post today was the gun metal finish Rockwell 6c purchased from a member on Sunday. Opening the box I was impressed with the finish. Absolutely flawless. Handle screws in and out without any of the squeaky noises I have heard others mention. So far so good. Grabbed an Astra sp blade and installed it with R4 plate. Blade aligned perfectly first time. Ok. Now I'm really impressed. My merkur progress and 34c don't do this without fiddling and at a higher price point may I add. Lathered up and easily found the angle. Goodness! Had to check I had remembered to put a blade in it. Super smooth first pass. lathered again and went for a xtg pass. Bit more aggression but still pretty smooth. Last pass atg finished off any stragglers leaving me completely bbs. No irritation. Quick check with Alum block confirmed this. For the price this is an incredible bargain. Plenty of weight, plenty of adjustability. Merkur progress is retired for just now. All in very impressed.

I too have a 6C and a Progress and they're fighting it out.... But I continue to like the Progress - it's very smooth as well. When you're feeling lazy you just pick up the one with the fresher blade...

I went from Astra SP to Personna Reds. Just tried a 7 o'clock Yellow and that also worked nicely. I'm using R4 as well. Haven't tried the others.

My progress is frustrating for me. I am a bit OCD when it comes to blade alignment and I need to fiddle too much for it to be enjoyable. My q shave futur clone is also being used a lot right now bumping the merkur even further down in the den. Wouldn't sell the progress and will probably use it occasionally. My usual blades are voskhod's or polsilvers and am just trying to use up the blades I don't use much. Very impressed so far however.

@Drew71 I bought the other 6c (the white chrome one). It arrived today too and it looks great!

I had a really good shave last night unfortunately, so will wait until tomorrow night before I give a go. If the reviews are anything to go by it should perform as well as it looks!

Don't think you will be disappointed. It's a belter.

Shaved with the R3 plate today but preferred R4 plate. Had to work a little harder than I would have liked for bbs. Still very good. Maybe try the R5 but I think R4 is my sweet spot on this. After 2 shaves it goes straight into my #1 spot.

Can anyone chime in with some favourite blades for this razor? Had a second shave with 7 o'clock Yellows, which are new to me, and it took off most of the stubble in the first pass - I'm impressed. Soap was Pannacrema Namaste - good lather.

Astra sp has been good so far. Very smooth. Imagine my usual voskhod and polsilvers will be equally good. Would be interesting to try a feather on the R2 or 3 plate. Sputniks and gillette rubies have worked well in my progress and imagine would work well in the Rockwell also. As you can possibly tell I like my Russian blades. Lol.

I currently own an EJ DE89 and a Merkur Futur. I have recently been eyeing one of these of a Gamechanger 0.86 up. The Rockwell seems good value, would you recommend this?
