Rate The Last Film You Watched

Just watching The Finest Hours with MrsB for the second time.

It's a Disney film but don't let that put you off. Live action story based on true events in 1952. A life boat crew sets out on a suicide mission to rescue the crew of a tanker thats split in two.

Makes you realise what these guys did with (compared to now) is minimal equipment. Solid enough acting and story. It is a little "warm" but it is a Disney family friendly film. Worth the watch though. Not everything have to be "hard and gritty" does it?

Totally agree with you.

A Light Between Oceans.

A bit of a chick flick, telling the story of a lighthouse keeper haunted by his memory of WWI, his new wife, and their shared secret. Lots of tears being wiped at the end, but I think the ending was handled rather superficially and the film didn't extract maximum value from an ingenious storyline.

However, Alicia Vikander is in it, so that is a definite plus point.

Allied
Brad Pitt

A Canadian wing commander in 1942 RAF falls in love with a French agent while performing an espionage mission in Casablanca. They return to London to marry. 12 months later she is accused of relaying secrets back to Germany. Pitt has 72 hrs to prove her innocence or execute her himself.

7.2 on IMDb is a decent rating. A better film than I expected to be honest and a decent twist.

Over the weekend..As usual everything is Oldschool just how I like it.
The evil of Frankenstein.(classic Hammer)
The man with the golden arm (Frank Sinatra plays a jazz drummer with a heroin habit).
Blood on satan's claw.(classic Hammer satanic carry ons)
Premature burial.(based on the Edgar Allan Poe story)

Blood oranges [emoji521] watched it last night for the 1st time. Strange film, but not strange in a way that benefit the experience of watching it.
The only thing that I kept thing was: Where do these people get their money to live on??

Sully
Tom Hanks

The story of US Aiways A320 that performed a water landing on the Hudson river after losing both engine due to bird strike.

I was wondering how a 4 minute incident could be extended to a 96 minute film but it was done without making the story boring or you thinking "It all filler!" Great performance by Hanks and Eckhart.

Tangled was my ironing movie last night - Rapunzel gets the Disney princess treatment.

I'm a sucker for cartoons; Studio Gibli, Pixar and Disney are invariably watchable and this is no exception. Not your typical Disney in a really odd hard to define sort of way, all the usual elements but...different. I think, after watching the kids reactions when they saw it and then watching it without the usual interruptions, that it's cos it's more of a teenage aimed version of the usual formula (PG). Some nice tongue in cheek moments, especially in some of the songs which are otherwise weak and a good old happily ever after ending. I found myself genuinely moved by the denouement and Flynn's grand gesture but hey! I'm a soft ass so...

Not a bad one if you're watching with the kids and a good ironing movie for on your own.

Caught my wife with misty eyes watching that. She said it was a lot better than she expected.

Pretty good actually and quite informative. I'm into speedcubing (or at least I try...) and I read on a reddit subforum about cubes that the one he used to sneak out the SD card did not exist yet at that time (tiled cube by Rubik).
8/10
