palmolive stick DISCONTINUED !!!!

I believe Barry, @Palmolive fox sometimes used Boots own brand shave stick - maybe he could comment on performance ?

You can pick up La Toja cheaper than Palmolive from ebay

Wilkinson Sword shave stick is said to be quite good (I haven't used it myself)

I thought there would be a thread on this. I stocked up many years ago. I grate a Palmolive with an Arko into a shaving bowl and it lasts for many weeks. As I had got down to three of each I decided to reorder. So now it's only available on Amazon and Ebay - several offers at £3 a stick if you buy 4 or more plus postage. Old Scrooge isn't paying that. So I'll cut the three left in half and add a full Arko each time. That might see me out. But I have ordered another 12 Arko sticks at £8.99 delivered. So what might I mix those up with that's decent value?

And just to mention to old friends. I'm still using my old Tech with red personna blades with my small group of New Forest brushes which rarely shed a hair and as good as ever. I have got into bad habits during lockdown. Shaving about every three days. Look a bit like an elderly footballer.
Good to see you back, I read on the other forum you'd had some health problems I hope you are doing well with your recovery.

As for affordable soaps to frankensoap with Arko.

Easy to get hold off sold by Boots and Amazon, called Eco Warrior or something which is supposed to be pretty good. It's a solid bar of 100g for £4.

It wouldn't be my first choice to frankensoap with Arko, it's a hard palm oil vegan soap.

Then there is the MWF around the £6 mark for 125g for a bar, and I've read favourable reports of it mixing well with Arko.

My choice would be Vitos Green or Red, which is a tallow almond croap. About £10 for a kilo. Not tried it but I think it would work well mixed with Arko.

My take is nobody really cared about the Palmolive stick until discontinued then suddenly it rose to forum fame :)

I never got on with the mess of using a shaving stick, so grated my last Palmolive into an old empty Proraso green tub.

When that ran out i switched to putting a small blob of Palmolive cream into same bowl and still do that now - the Palmolive cream is readily available for £2 at my local Sainsburys.

Wilkinson Sword sticks are no longer available from Energiser/Edgewell UK, so I can't re-stock.

I’ve had a few off these people and you only have to spend a fiver for free delivery.

Dave.

This is a superb way for anyone looking to get one of the best sticks on the market!

I rank Wilkinson stick second to Speick stick.

I recently bought a tub of the Wilkinson Sword soap as it was on offer at £1 and gave it a go.

Took a little work to whip up decent lather, but it's really not at all bad to shave with.
it,s not as bad as some people would have you belive ,however it,s a gycerine soap so if you plan on storing it for a while between use,s ,wrap it in cling film or it will shrink into half the size ,lol

Saj started another thread earlier, which actually prompted me to post in this one... as I have found a stash of Palmolive sticks in one of my local pharmacies! I’ve never actually used them before, but sounds like I should at least try the stuff!

I didn’t buy any, but will probably go back and clear out their stock(!) - anyone else interested, feel free to pm me.
