Differences between Plisoft and Cashmere knots

Feeling good this morning and thinking to expand my tiny collection of brushes.
My moto was always 'it doesn't pay rent, it is not staying'. So ended up with two synthetics and two boars which is plenty for one chap.

My boars are Samouge 1800 and Omega 102, my synthetics are the daily whipped Dog Ubersoft at 24mm (circa 2015) and some 24mm Yaqi Toxido which I find a bit too springy.

(I also have a travel bag with a well broken in Kent Silvertex of 2011 vintage).

After reading up and down this sub-forum I can see there is a lot of love for the Cashmere knots.

I have my eye on a Bruce 24mm as I really like the handle but this has a knot they call Plisoft, will this be very different to a Cashmere knot?

I suppose I am a bit conservative when it comes to colours and shape, much prefer ivory/white or black to any other colour and prefer a short handle.
Looking at the Yaqi and other Aliexpress offerings I think I will skip as the colours and handle design don't really appeal to me.

You buy a brush primarily for the knot (if you're smart). Second: the handle for your preferred ergos, e.g., short, long, round, etc. Lastly, for the aesthetics. Remember, no one from Architectual Digest is coming to film you shave. ;)

That said, all the YaQi synthetitic knots are first in class. YMMV.

I'd say in addition to the type of fibre, with any synth Yaqi makes as long as the glue bump isn't too high will make a superb lather.

However if the OP finds the Tuxedo fibre to be a bit springy, I'd recommend going for the black fibre/faux horse knot instead, I have one with the Rainbow handle which is a very knot for making a lather, least springy of all Yaqis I own.

Aesthetics are partially dictated by the bathroom boss, I was told no garish colours allowed
First I ordered a new travel brush for lockdown when travelling from the master bedroom to the bathroom = Simpsons T1 to contest the Kent Silvertex

If I do risk it, there is a sale on Aliexpress today which can bring interesting prospects, shall I go for Yellow 22mm Kashmere or maybe a Ferrari red (what is rough complex?!) Kashmere?
Didn't go for a Bruce as it seems from reading here to have an identical knot to the Ubersoft synth from Whipped Dog.

I have both a plisoft and a Cashmere and both have their relevant strengths. Certainly I find the Plisoft pretty well placed for creams but never too at home with hard soaps and croaps. Not too brilliant with face lathering either.

The Cashmere on the other hand is just one dogs bollocks of an all rounder. Face leathers, bowl leathers and throw any form of medium you want at it. It has just the right amount of back in it to give a perfect face lather and really works it all in while massaging the bristles. A super knot and my biggy of the moment.

The 30mm version is an absolute monster. Get Steve Jagger to turn a handle, add a Cashmere knot and the only brush you would ever need.

Cheers Satanfriendly,

The bathroom boss agreed that I can get something to match the new accent colour wall she completed last month.

From DS and seems to be not too tall/long handled.

First purchase of any shaving crap since early 2019, holding the fort is hard in the face of all this cheap stuff from China.

I have found the cashmere knots the floppiest of all the synths I have tried but my preference is for tuxedo or the faux horse knot from Yaqi so far. None have the spring of those earlier fibres so I'm surprised you find the tuxedo springy unless you got a high glue bump one.

I wax & wane between a Tuxedo and a Cashmere and still at times use a SynBad (Mew Brown) depending on beard growth. I also have a 26mm A.P. Shave Co. SilkSmoke set deeper than normal that requires more than normal effort to splay for multi-day beard growth. I guess I use my synth brushes like an assortment of golf clubs for different situations. I only wish I had known about combing the knap after each usage long ago so as to prevent the "doughnut" effect. I do that with new ones and it prevents it. The old ones are too far gone I fear. :(

' Combing the Knap' can I seek clarity on this? What do you mean and use.

Thanks
