So... Shavette or DE?

So recently I was PIF'ed a shavette razor, I've tried a few times to shave with it but I just don't seem to get on with it. I really thought I would like it but I seem to prefer just reaching for a DE instead.
Is it something that will come in time? is it just because I haven't practiced enough? Or is it thst some guys faces are just not adaptable to a shavette?
I'm not sure! I really want to enjoy using a shavette so I could get a 'nice' cut throat later...
Or do I hang it up on the display so it's nice to look at and just keep rotating the DE's?

IMO a shavette is best used by another party who is shaving you. Of course, public barbers in most Western countries have to use one as opposed to a real cutthroat razor due to AIDS, hepatitis, etc. If you want something different try a vintage Schick injector razor. ;)

Some people can use them without issue but I can't and prefer a straight razor over a shavette but YMMV so you must do what's best for you.
Given the choice between a shavette and a DE razor I would pick a DE every time but that's just my choice ! :) P.

I didn't like a shavette with a DE blade (too thin blade and nothing like a straight), wasn't massively keen on full straight razor due to the hassle to maintain. Settled on a shavette which used Schick injector blades. Much thicker than a DE blade, and feels a lot more like a real straight, with no maintenance.

Been fascinated by the Feather Artist Club shavettes for a long time, so I finally ended up buying 2: a beautiful one with a wooden handle and a Japanese style. Amazing quality! I forced myself for months to use them.. I'm afraid they're just not for me... I gave up... I'm only reaching my Timeless or Feather DE razors...
I'll eventually sell them, even though my heart will be broken.. [emoji3525]

Hang it on your wall and warn your kids to never, ever use one unless they know their blood group!
The shavette was an itch I had to scratch...having scratched, bled and cursed, I am satisfied that it's a great hair-shaping tool, but not a razor!

Hello. I am a 4th generation barber in my family business. My advice, if you would like, is to put away those useless shavette razors and buy a Feather Club Artist razor and pair it with the Shick Proline P30's. I use these every day, 6 days a week and they are a “cut” above the rest!

What's the difference between Schick Prolinr P30's and Feather Professional blades? Ive never tried the Schick ones.
