Here's my current small collection. I mainly use synthetics now and will not be buying animal hair brushes again, mainly because I think the synthetics feel far better and are easier to maintain.

All my other brushes are Badger, mostly Silvertip...

The one on its side is my Cadman custom made 'Burki Bell'.
The one on the far left is my oldest brush, and the two on the right are travel brushes.

I will, no doubt, buy some more synthetics ... at least one more non-travel brush so I'll have one for every day of the week!
Oh those poor brushes, all suffering from acute boar deficiency! :p

A nice collection of brushes.

What's the Semogue Synth like?
It's ok, but not as good as Yaqi or Razorock synths. Plenty of backbone and fine with hard soaps and creams, but I find the bristles very slightly prickly. It's quite small so I tend to use it with smaller pots of hard soap/croap (like Le Pere lucien tins). It's a good size for a travel brush as well.

Thanks for the info. The handle of the SMog synth looks very nice though.

What Yaqi did you order?

I ordered the 24mm Moka Express Mew Brown - I'm generally a little OCD about green stuff (hence the Semogue) but I really like the two-tone amber/black look of this one.

Edit: when I mentioned the Semogue wasn't as good as Yaqi or Razorock synths, I meant Yaqi or Phoenix AA...I have no Razorock brushes!

Fine choice with the Moka, what are the PAA brushes like?

Excellent...I've had quite a few badger brushes in several qualities but I have never had as great a shaving brush as current synthetics. I notice that some of the 'top' brands insist on charging much for for their branded handles, with synthetic knots, but these all look boring and tired to me when Phoenix and Yaqi are producing stunning designs with excellent knots at very reasonable prices. Now is the time to snap these up as people get wise to the fact that synthetics are better than animal hair...the prices will only increase. Synths require no pre-soak, they are softer and have plenty of backbone, they are easier to keep clean and they dry faster, and they don't shed. There's no reason to expect that they are held in place with inferior glue and it's likely that they will outlast badger, horse, boar etc. So, yes...Phoenix are a supplier to go to as are Yaqi IMHO :)
