MdC clone soap give away

Hi all, so the copy of MdC soap that i made has had 4 weeks curing time and i have 3 pucks to give away to forum members. Ideally i'd like at least a couple of them to go to people who have tried Martin de Candre soaps so that they can give me a comparison. I'll cover the postage so UK only i'm afraid.

Just to note it's only the actual soap that i've attempted to copy, not the scent, that is all mine and for information it's lavender, rosemary, lemongrass and geranium.

PM if you would like to try it and please let me know in the message if you have tried MdC before.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the interest chaps, in the spirit of fairness the first three that PM'd me got the samples and i have responded to them. Sorry to all the others that didn't get a response, i'm sure this won't be the last give away so better luck next time.

To those that get a sample, i'd appreciate any feedback, positive or negative, in this thread if you don't mind.

A quick note on use, i've been using a badger brush with mine and that seems to be working pretty well, but it'd be interesting to hear how other brushes work with this.

Hope to get everything posted by Monday as i'm working all weekend.

Thanks again everyone.

Me too, I use a big badger on mdc and it is superb soap, I criticized it for long enough on it's price , but now I can see why, I hope it goes really well for the testers, I am in the middle of testing a soap so I would not want to do two,,it could cause comparisons, and that is not what it is about...good luck and enjoy.

I received my MDC Clone today and have given it a test alongside the MDC I purchased. Bazz's Clone, which from this point forward I will refer to as BDC ;) presents nicely as a slightly off-white firm puck with a fresh citrusy scent, the strongest notes I could detect were the lemon grass and rosemary.

The MDC Is a much firmer puck than the BDC and I believe this may account for the differences I felt between the two soaps during shaving.

The two soaps were to be compared side by side with the MDC getting the Cow Horn Bowl, now with added dots and the BDC getting the 3D printed Lather Machine Bowl.

Both Soaps produced copious amounts of lather, the BDC lathered quicker and with a little less fuss than the MDC and the MDC was more thirsty however the slickness of both, to my skin once lathered was comparable with the MDC being perhaps just the tiny bit slicker. The density of both soaps was good too, but MDC was noticeably thicker density, could this be to do with adding a little too much water to the BDC?

This photo shows the post shave results considering that both soaps produces I believe a similar amount of lather to begin with I would conclude that the MDC hung around a bit longer, but also the MDC Puck is larger so it is possible that for the 30 swirls I gave each while loading the MDC Brush picked up more soap?
The post shave feel is very similar too, which if I had to discern a difference I would say the MDC is a little more oily?

I have very much enjoyed using both soaps today and if it were available for sale I would be buying the BDC it's up there with my favourite la-savonniere-du-moulin soap and will become a regular in my shave routine. Tomorrow I plan to try the soap again with my Badger and then Saturday I will use the MDC with the badger so more coming soon!
