Blue Dial Automatic Recommendations?

I have a few PRC's and would love it if they made one in blue but never seen one to date. Today's wear....

Another one in the hunt for a blue faced watch here

They do the PRC200 in blue. This is mine:

I love this watch. I'll probably never own a multi £K watch but I question why I would ever need to when I look at this one. The only thing I'd have done differently is gone for the leather strap like yours.

I have a nice Orient Mako. The dial is bluer than a blue thing! I took the original mineral glass crystal out and replaced it with Sapphire. If you don't have a crystal press, a decent watchmaker can do it for peanuts. The sapphire crystal was less than £20.. Quite an economic method of getting a sapphire crystal'd watch for less cash.

That's good to know - I may well get my Bambino's glass replaced with sapphire as I do like the watch.

Jolly good, old chap. I'm quite often scented of dog, alas....

As to keeping the clean cut image of the forum, I'm afraid I'm quite the let down there. I miss Vinny's singularly cutting remarks and observations such as, " a metric fuckton". And, "a good stiff cockpunch". I'm definitely more at that level......

A' the best, felly!
Graeme

In fact @globalm what about a tutorial on how to do it and the kit required. I know this isn't a watch forum but I don't want to join such a place as I barely manage to keep a hold of all the strings I do have at the moment. Please and thank you.

Just take it to a decent watch repair place. I had the glass in my Orient Ray 2 replaced with a double dome sapphire (from Crystaltimes, cost about £25ish, iirc) for £14 from the shop where Roger Smith (George Daniels' apprentice) did his basic training.

As I don't have a watch in need of this service ATM, you could take a look at this video.

The only difference when I did mine was that the new crystal went home with a sudden 'click' which I guess is down to the design of the case seal..

Press can be bought from ebay for much cheapness or you can borrow mine. Crystal was bought from cousinsuk.com (you need an account but there's no barrier to creating one and no minimum order).

It's a bit nerve-racking and there's always a chance of cracking a new crystal, but it's fun to DIY!

Been there done that, a lot of fun to be had faffing about with mechanical watches looking cool loupe in one eye, but as mentioned a bit nerve-recking at times! (inexpensive ones from Meranom proved good for practice)
