ASB

I need a good, cheap light and moisturising aftershave balm (ASB). I really like the Neal's Yard one and have in the past even used a light Body Shop moisturiser. Scent not important; pref. paraben (etc.) free.

Any ideas?

One Planet ASB available for £1.94 in Asda (Men's toiletries section). 100% natural, has a minty, tingly, cooling effect. Works great, too! Feels really good after a menthol (Ingrams, proraso) shave.

Not cheap but I use the Liz Earle After Shaving Moisturiser.
Very clean and absorbed easily, I have really sensitive skin and this has proved the best for me.Previously I use the L'Occitane Cade which was also very nice, one again not cheap so I guess both my suggestions fail on your primary objective lol sorry but I hope it helps.

I used to enjoy the Boots branded ASB when I could get it, unfortunately my local just sells pills, glasses and multibladed toys now.

The One Planet ASB is a very good cheap ASB. It also works well after a shave with Speick. I can also echo the sentiment of the L'Occitane and Liz Earle balms, very nice but not the cheapest.

I have a few I use dependant on how my skin feels. The lightest one I have is the Body Shop "Mattyfing Day Cream" it is a seaweed based moisturiser but it nice and light and absorbed easily (about £8 for 200ml but does last for ages). If my skin is a bit irritated I sometimes use a Clarins one but at £22 for 50ml (a gift) I will not be buying any more of that, however it is really good. The Men-U stuff (white tube) and also Nikel rescue gel I got from npinn also work well although again they is more of a moisturiser than a balm.

On specific A/S balms I do not have many, I love the 1805 balm which can be a wee bit thick sometimes but leaves a lovely feeling on my skin when absorbed. I also have a Blvgari one I got with an A/S and that is a bit runny and too highly scented for me but it does the job of a balm well. Then there is the skinfood which I am not sure if it is a balm or moisturiser, I really like that and after my sample run out I am considering purchasing some of that.

It depends on what you want, you can get decent balms that have a scent and you can use these instead of A/S or Cologne and if that is what you are looking for I like the T&H stuff quite a lot. If you are jut looking for an unscented balm/moisturiser that you can use A/S or cologne on top of pound for pound I find the Body Shop stuff works well for me at a reasonable price.

Thanks guys I was near a T K Maxx so I jumped on some "Art of Shaving" products -- "Soothing Balm" (no parabens etc.) and " Daily Anti-Wrinkle Cream", (whch seemed to be the super-charged version of the standard moisturiser, which they also had.) Both at £2.99. (The former had an RRP of £4.99, the latter of £6.49, although I think they make those prices; even if not, a thing is worth what is sells for not what it didn't.)

Anyone know if these are any good?

I'm also going try out Peter's suggestion next time I'm near an Asda.

Thanks lads

Ollie

Sorry not "Art of Shaving" but "The Real Shaving Co. ("RS")

Anyone know if they're any good?

Hoping so!

Have a look at my post on GB's. The Shave Den stuff is excellent. I have the unfortunate combo of werewolf like growth and sensitive skin. I am a martyr to my neck, Ooooh! get her, anyway, this stuff sorted me out, only problem was the amount of fragrances and what other things you wish put in omitted

Boots Freshwood ASB at about £2 a bottle is good. Appearance, texture and its performance are close (I mean I don't know what differences there are) to DR Harris AS Milk. Only difference is the Boots stuff has a smell. I like the scent, but it does linger a wee bit so if you don't like the scent then the product may not be for you.
