Finished.!!

Finally finished my Santa Maria Novella shave soap after 6 years.

Bought this from the Pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella in Florence. It was expensive but I think worth it. It comes in a large tube of 220ml has lasted over 62 shaves (according to my shave spreadsheet).

It's a great smelling soap, mildly scented with Tabaco Toscano cologne. I found the lather a tiny bit on the thin side but this did not detract from its performance. The conditioning feel afterwards is top level.

Would I buy it again. Probably not as I still have so many soaps to get through but you never know, if I'm ever in Florence again (and who knows when that will be with Covid) then I might be tempted.

This is where we first met.

Yet another top ranking shave soap/cream finished today; Murdock Shave Cream.

After over 5 years of over 42 uses I've exhausted the tub.

It was a Christmas present and would never have spent this amount on a shave cream usually but it was on sale at the time.
It is a luxurious cream, fantastic scent and great performance. The scent kind of lingers on the face afterward which is pleasing. I still have the pre-shave oil, ASB and cologne.

Would I buy it again? No. The price is too high for me what with all the other soaps performing just as well for a fraction of the price and also I need to clear my backlog of soaps before having the excuse to buy more.

Finished my tub of Phoenix & Beau Solaris shaving soap.
These soaps are approaching the finishing line like buses!

I've had this soap for over 4 years and have used it 56 times, which surprises me as it seems to take a lot of loading to get a brushful. Nevertheless it certainly has lasted; 4oz - who gives weight in imperial these days in the UK!

This soap gives me a hard time to evaluate. On the plus side it gives a decent lather, pleasant not overpowering scent. On the negative side it's just a bit uninspiring. The lather could be thicker and have more body for my liking. Lather is protective enough but just feels a little thin.

Would I buy it again? Nope, I would either prefer a more interesting soap or a more mainstream soap like Tabac.

At least you've now tried it and the brand. Sometimes it may be best just to stick to what you know. Then something new will come out and you just have to give that a go.

Finally finished my Humphrey's Witch Hazel that I picked up from 'merica while on holiday.

I got to quite like using this one. I find straight Witch Hazel smells a bit pooey, so always look out for variations on the theme.
Humphrey's has no bad scent to it and is a pleasure to use.

I still prefer Thayer's as it has better scent and additional ingredients like Aloe, but I would buy this again, especially as it was so cheap.

I'm not sure about the legend saying "100% All Natural" on the front when it states 14% alcohol on the back. I think it implies that the product is 100% WH. Don't think this advertising would be allowed in the UK though.
