SOTD : Saturday 3rd October to Friday 9th October 2020.

Fri 9 SOTD
Soap Tabac
Brush Yaqi 26mm Lucky Dice 2 Band Badger
Razor Yaqi Knight Helmet
Blade Gillette London Bridge 4th
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Mix
Hyaluronic + Clubman Whisky Wood
Excellent lather from the soap as usual. Creamily thick and slick.
Shave with this razor was quite aggressive but the blade was good to reduce it. 3 passes went ok with acceptable smoothness and comfort. Did not pursue atg around the lips area. The blade gap feels enormous. DFS to SAS results. Minor creepers were seen after post-shave. Rating 9/10

Received my Slim, back from Northshore razors. I had sent them my razor upon purchase from the BST, because of uneven blade-gap, for cleaning and re-calibration to original factory settings. The service took about a month to turn around with most of that being shipping time. The blade-gap is now spot on at every setting; adjustment clicks are crisp and precise; the final quarter turn is present; bay doors open and close in sync, and the tto mechanism is buttery smooth. I am pleased with the service and work that Northshore razors has been done. And now have a razor that shaves as Gillette intended. I intentionally did not go for a replate so the razor maintains its original patina, although it is certainly shinier than when I received it.

I asked Northshore to send me some, before and after pictures, from the cleaning process. The razor was quite nasty inside, but apparently many of the Gillette Adjustable's they receive for servicing have more crud inside.

She looks stunning! Given her age and incredible looks you should name this razor MILF

My first shaving brush (circa 4 years ago) was a Razorock synthetic and I couldn't stand it, too soft and zero backbone. I tried another synthetic last year, the much revered Muhle Fibre. This was an improvement on the Razorock but I couldn't get on with the ‘'springy'' feel.

Having seen a number of respected members sell off their badger brush collection and move to synthetics I thought I'd give them another go. Having asked those in the know, you know how you are. I went with the 28mm AP Shave Co SynBad.

So did the SynBad knot live up to the hype? I have to admit, yes it did. The fibres were soft when running your palm over it but not cloud soft when lathering on the face, which I prefer. The backbone was superb. There was a little bit of spring back but it's not something you were fighting against. The only slight negative was the knot did twist at times when pressing into my face. This didn't happen often and wasn't a deal breaker.

So a positive outcome. A big thank you to those who recommended and advised on what to go for, it's much appreciated.

Have a good weekend Gents.

Cheers
Rob

Gillette Adjustable Fatboy
Gillette Silver Blue

A superb two pass shave this morning with the Fatboy set on 4 for a comfortable and smooth shave. P&B soaps really seem to help toward that extra smooth shave, with a rich creamy lather that the M55 has no difficulty creating.

Fat Friday

Pre - Shower / Face wash
Soap - MWF
Brush - Razorback Bruce
Razor - Merkur 34G
Blade - Wilkinson (4)
Post - Kouros AS followed by Moisturiser

I'm really enjoying using MWF. Today I managed to drop my brush in the sink between first and second pass. It's very slick and slippery in the hand of this brush. Fortunately, the lather was a little dry on the first pass, and I caught the brush with on the tips of one side slightly submerge. I managed to rebuild the lather and continue to with a nice two and half pass shave.

Soap - Tabac Stick
Brush - Zenith Euro X (unbleached boar, 24 mm/ 58 mm)
Razor - Souplex Bakelite
Blade - Lancet Super Platinum (2)
Post - Witch Hazel/Nivea Balm
Splash - Benjamins Bay Rum w/Pimento

Another great shave with the Lancet SP in the Souplex, which is a very mild razor but with a sharp blade it's efficient enough for daily shaves. I'm growing to be more impressed with the Lancet SP with each shave, it seems to suit my face/razors really well.

Have a good Friday and start to the weekend.
